There's still time to register! The Urbanism Lab takes a closer look at the creation and maintenance of green spaces and the considerations that inform where they are located, what their shape and dimensions are, and what use they should be geared toward. This year, in an effort to respond to the Covid 19 pandemic, Communities in Bloom has created a campaign to celebrate the return to some sort of normalcy in our lives. Across Canada and beyond, our goal is to see the land awash with gardens featuring yellow, the international colour of hope. From parks to playgrounds, front yards, back yards, balconies, baskets, boulevards, barrels and planters, wherever there’s an empty space, there is room for a plant, and together we can,... and we will, make this happen! Register your garden today. . . . . . #hopeisgrowing #communitiesinbloom #cibcef #cnlaacpp #gardencentrescanada #GCFoundationCA #yellow #gardens #morethanjustflowers #communityinvolvement #communityfirst #localgov #cities #municipalities #towns See more

Mark Cullen, Canada's Gardening Guru and Ben Cullen discuss the upcoming #hopeisgrowing campaign in this week's Star. Everyone can take part by planting a 'Hope Garden' this year in shades of yellow. Canadians took up gardening in record numbers during the pandemic, we hope to see a yellow-washed repeat in 2021! It is with great sadness that the Green Cities Foundation shares the passing of Margaret Stinson, our Board Member and a wonderful ambassador for the Horticultural Sector, who always provided such positive and meaningful contributions along with her late Husband Ivan. We are blessed to have known Margaret, and we know that she will be looking upon us tomorrow as we break ground in Hamilton, a project she was very excited about. Our sympathies go out to her family. Margaret’s obituary, and information about donations can be found here: http://www.wallcustance.com/notices2.aspx?notice=22946
