We know you've all been missing derby this year, and what a year it's been! Naughty Vs Nice has been such a huge annual staple in Gas City and we know we're not the only ones mourning the loss of this event. But then we thought... We can still host Naughty Vs Nice! It'll just be a little bit different this time around.... So without further ado, here's how we can all safely take part in our favorite holiday Derby event this year: 1- Dig out that Naughty or Nice jersey out of your closet 2- Get your derby gear on 3- Snap a photo of yourself in your BEST impression of derby play (Take a hit, give a hit, do an apex jump. Give us your best derby face!) 4- Make sure you have good lighting (Take it during the day, facing a window preferably) for the best results 5- Send in your photo as well as your name, number, and skill level to [email protected] (deadline is Dec 30th) 6- Hold on tight as we compile our rosters (As an added note, Ref pictures and fan/volunteer pictures are also VERY WELCOME and encouraged!) Miss roller derby? WFTDA is putting on a Virtual Tournament this weekend, using some of the most beloved and legendary games of the past. We're especially excited for Calgary versus Sun State tonight at 8:00 PM local time, but check out the whole lineup!

We have elected to go on complete hiatus for at least the rest of 2020 because of the surge in Covid-19 cases and attendant restrictions. We will resume practices as soon as we can establish that it is safe to do so. When this happens, we plan to do a major recruitment drive. If you are interested in roller skating, playing roller derby, or just learning more, please sign up and we will keep you in the loop about upcoming opportunities.

We regret to inform you all that Juniors new skater intake will be on hold until after Christmas. Sorry for all those who are wanting to get started !! We have alot of unknowns and we are thinking of children’s safety first !! We will update you all in January!!

Hi! Sorry we've been so quiet lately, but it turns out that nailing a plan down in the middle of a pandemic is hard. We're going to try a staged return to practices: Returning adult and level 3 junior skaters will start September 22 at the Fieldhouse at 7 PM. If you think this might be you, but you haven't gotten an e-mail, please send us a message or bug Dodger.... Returning level 1 and 2 juniors will start a bit later. We're waiting to see how school goes until we start announcing dates, but we're thinking early November. If this is you, you should also have an e-mail already, but something might have gotten missed. We also plan to recruit this year, probably with a mid-November skating start. More information will be available on that later. EDIT: There will be open skating for kids with their own gear soon, though. Stay tuned! In all of this, we will be taking the standard Covid-19 precautions mandated by the Government or Alberta, as well as taking a cue from the pandemic response plan developed by WFTDA. As with all things this year, things will change if the pandemic gets bad. So please, wash your hands and be careful.

Some of you may know him as Dodger Balls, and many of you will know him as Ref, chair person of GCRDA, coach, friend, mentor, teammate or possibly one of the other hundreds of hats he has worn in roles to make Derby an amazing sport to play. And now he dons one more hat! An absolutely huge congratulations to Dodger Balls Joel McNally and Alpha Betty on their marriage over the weekend. On behalf of everyone from GCRDA and all of it's extended family, we would like to wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness!
