Today's installment of #mentalhealthweek here at GDCS is to touch on the Emotional aspect of the Medicine Wheel. We would like to use this day to fill some buckets. We all carry an emotional "bucket" that can be affected positively and negatively based on our interactions with others, as well as through self talk. May 5 National Day of Awareness of MMIWG Wear red in support

Wednesday May 5 at GDCS we will focus on the SPIRITUAL aspect of the Medicine Wheel and its part in the whole self balance. #mentalhealthweek has given us a chance to pause and #getreal about how we feel. Wednesday, the students will create a traditional Tobacco Tie Offering in Cree class with Mrs.Aldridge. On Tuesday they took part in preparing the tobacco alternative called Kinnikinnik blend of natural plants found in our area. I encourage you all to read a bit about the Tobacco Tie and its meanings, as your kids have been learning quite a bit about them this week, and will surely have some things to tell you over dinner :)

This is #mentalhealthweek Here at GDCS we are focusing on calm, and mellow today. We kicked things off with having PJ DAY, which allowed us all to roll out of bed, take a stretch, and not stress about what to wear. PJ DAY MONDAY MAY 3! :)

Please make your children aware of the extension of the date of the Thinning Project to April 8th. There will be cutting and burning throughout the bush during Easter Break. For safety reasons, kids and other community members should stay out of the affected area, until the project is complete.

This Thursday April 1st is a noon dismissal at GDCS (no PreK or K). And for some spring spirit, let's all try to dress up in our spring colors!

Mrs. Squires' grade 5/6 class is taking part in this super cool project in coordination with the Canadian Space Agency/NASA.
