Lewis Alumni are having a BLOCK DRAW ($10 a block) to help raise $ to contribute towards Halloween fireworks for Louisbourg & surrounding communities. Hey everyone, It is with great sadness that we, the George D. Lewis Alumni must announce the cancellation of the Community Stroll for 2020. We were holding out hope that we would be able to host the event, but after much discussion and monitoring of the COVID-19 situation, we have come to the realization that it will not be possible this year. We are very upset at having to cancel, as the event was a great time and it allowed us to come together and raise money for the commun...ity. Over the years we have been able to create a scholarship given to a graduate from the area as well as donate money to various causes, including money for fireworks for Halloween as well as various fundraisers held throughout the community. To all those who have already paid, you will have the option of getting a refund, or we can hold on to it for the 2021 Community Stroll scheduled for Friday, August 6th. All is not lost though, we are working on some great ideas to bring us all (safely) together as well as do some fundraising in order to continue offering the scholarship and helping our community, so stay tuned! Again we are extremely sorry to have to cancel the event, but we are looking forward to getting together soon, so until then stay safe, be kind to each other and wash your hands!

We want to give everyone an update on our plans for the upcoming Community Stroll. As of right now we are still hoping and planning to have it on the scheduled date of Friday, August 7th. Obviously, we want to do this as safely as possible and we will follow all instructions and guidelines set by the government as well as continue to work closely with our venues to make sure this is a fun and safe event for all. As we get closer to the date we will make a final decision wheth...er to go ahead on August 7th or try for a date in September or October. We love hosting this event and are looking forward to getting together with everyone again this year and we will try and make sure this event happens even if it means moving it to September or October. Please keep checking out our Facebook page and as we get closer we will let you know the final decision.
