It is late in the season and many riders are still riding due to unusually warm weather. But some are pushing the limits with worn tires and other critical items like chains and brakes and batteries. When riding conditions are marginal please do not try to make things last until next spring. Fix them now and ride safely. This used up tire on a big touring bike came into Gear Head this week when the owner noticed cord showing. A new Bridgestone fixed him up.

It seemed odd to see a tire worn to the belts off centre. We thought it may have been low tire pressure causing the tire to deform at the contact patch. But the pressure was at 35 psi on a large touring bike, so probably just the load flattens the tire this much. New things learned every day.

This 3 inch screw got the tire and tube good. Fortunately the Honda Africa Twin rider got the bike to a safe stop from 110 kph when the back end started misbehaving.

We have never seen a bubble level mounted on a bike before. It is not to measure cornering lean angle. The owner says he installed it so he can park the scooter on its side stand without it leaning too far and increasing risk of tip over.
