January 12, 2021 By order of the Government of Ontario and the Ministry of Education, on-line learning for GECDSB students has been mandated through Feb. 10, 20...21. Teaching and learning will continue in its current model. Current arrangements for in-person learning for students in GAINS (elementary) and STEPS (secondary) programs will be maintained with transportation provided. Child care programs for non-school aged children and emergency childcare will also be maintained.

We understand as a parent/guardian making sure your child's needs are being met is important. As a parent/guardian here are some things you can do to help your child and make sure their teacher(s) understand their needs: communicate mental health needs and involvement with community agencies share any documentation that you feel comfortable shar...ing (i.e. psychological assessment, notes from your child's Physician or Psychiatrist) schedule a meeting early in the school year to discuss strategies, triggers and areas of motivation that they can use to support your child be successful at school ongoing and open communication between the teacher and home if your child has an IEP, the transition page is an important tool to support day-today transitions as well as larger transitions (i.e. year to year, elementary to secondary) See more
