This made me laugh so I had to share! I had a recent conversation with the CRA where I asked them what they considered ‘reasonable’ when it came to a certain business expense. They said I had to determine what that amount was and that they could not give me a firm number. I asked what would happen if the government and I had different ideas of what is ‘reasonable’?!? They said I would then have to convince the auditor why we think we are right and if that auditor doesn’t agree then my client would have to pay the taxes the auditor determines are owed!

The CRA online systems are all down and have been since yesterday. They are working to get them up and running. This stops any access to client accounts including Efiling returns.
