October 22, 2020 ONTARIO COLLEGE VIRTUAL FAIR IS NOVEMBER 4TH AND 5TH This message is being sent by OCAS on behalf of the organizers of the Ontario College Virtual Fair (OCVF). Please feel free to share it with interested colleagues. ... Ontario colleges are going virtual this fall, with a two-day fair that will showcase 24 of the province’s colleges for high school students, their parents and others interested in attending college next year. The Ontario College Virtual Fair will be held November 4, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and November 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participating colleges are requesting support from Guidance Counsellors and teachers to bring this first-time event to the attention of their students and encourage them to register for the event at www.ontariocollegefair.ca. This will be a one-stop shop that will give prospective students from across the province the opportunity to learn about the myriad of programs offered at Ontario colleges. How does it work? 1. Interested students and parents register on the event website. 2. The day of the event, attendees receive an email with a link to download and install the event software on their PC or Mac. (all technical requirements are listed at www.ontariocollegefair.ca) 3. Attendees create an avatar and navigate the event space, meeting with reps from 24 Ontario Colleges. The virtual platform will feature an interactive event space that replicates an in-person fair. Attendees will be able to personalize their own avatars, which will have texting and real-voice capabilities, allowing for interaction with staff, faculty and current students from participating colleges. Each college will have its own exhibition floor space. Within that space, colleges will have multiple booths, where attendees will be able to have one-on-one discussions with staff, watch videos and ask questions. A virtual auditorium will allow attendees to hear about individual campuses, competitive programs, scholarship opportunities and other highlights. Presentations on topics such as How to Apply for College, Paying for College and College Pathways will be available for viewing in a larger virtual auditorium. Attendees can register now at www.ontariocollegefair.ca. On the day of the event attendees receive a link to download and install the event software.
