I'm pleased to announce I'll be offering hormone readiness assessment training again, in January 2021! EDIT: Due to overwhelming demand and the course filling much faster than anticipated, I've added a second cohort. Hormone readiness assessment training for gender affirming care COHORT 1 (FULL)... Part 1: 1 - 4 pm Thursday January 20 2021 Part 2: 1 - 4 pm Friday January 21 2021 COHORT 2 (space still available!) Part 1: 1 - 4 pm Thursday January 28 2021 Part 2: 1 - 4 pm Friday January 29 2021 Via Zoom video conferencing $500(inclusive of GST) Register here: https://genderoo.janeapp.com//online-training-worksh/book Hormones are medically necessary for many trans, nonbinary, Two-Spirit and gender diverse people. Yet the process of starting hormone therapy requires navigating a gatekeeping system that can be challenging and restrictive. As health care professionals, we can be critical of existing systems while working within them to expand access to care, advocate for change, and help our gender diverse clients get the care they need. In this anti-oppression workshop, you will discover how to conduct a low barrier hormone readiness assessment, and to create the necessary documentation to help gender diverse clients access hormone therapy. You’ll learn about the history of gender affirming care, including how gate-keeping has been built into the system and how practices are slowly changing. You’ll explore a protocol based on an informed consent model that centers client safety and respect, and will have the opportunity to practice your skills through role plays and case studies. You will learn the paths to accessing hormone therapy in BC Canada, and be given templates and sample reports to use to create your own reports that will meet WPATH version 7 standards of care. You’ll leave feeling ready to offer hormone readiness assessments to gender diverse clients. This workshop is designed for health care professionals, including registered clinical counsellors, social workers, psychologists, physicians and nurses. You need to have basic competency and some experience working with trans, nonbinary and Two-Spirit clients before taking this training. Feel free to contact me directly at [email protected] if you need further clarification or have any other questions.

COVID-19 update: as we move into Phase 2 of the provincial government's re-opening plan, some counsellors are beginning to provide in-person services. However, counsellors are still encouraged to offer distance sessions if possible. In the interest of public safety and to protect those of us who are most vulnerable, I am choosing to remain online and phone only at this point. I will update all clients directly when this changes, as well as posting information here and on my booking page. Thank you for your understanding!
