This new bill will make it mandatory to "report" if someone under 21 is trans or queer. " If a government agent has knowledge that a minor under its care or supervision has exhibited symptoms of gender dysphoria, gender nonconformity, or otherwise demonstrates a desire to be treated in a manner incongruent with the minor's sex, the government agent or entity with knowledge of that circumstance shall immediately notify, in writing, each of the minor's parents, guardians, or custodians". https://evenmorenews.libsyn.com/anti-trans-bills-are-not-in

This #TransAwarenessWeek, we reflect on the work that remains to be done to ensure that trans youth have access to gender-affirming care. Just last week, a B.C. Supreme Court judge ordered a surgeon to delay a trans teen's top surgery after their mother filed a lawsuit.

"Anti-Racism and Lessons from Liberation" is an immersive and in depth workshop that exposes our complicity in racist power structures that exist all around us.... This workshop is both personal and political: an exploration into bias, systemic oppression, language, cultural appropriation and intersectionality. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the different manifestations of racism, from systems of power to workplace microaggressions. However, most importantly, they will gain the skills to speak up and combat racism in their communities. Cicely Belle Blain is a Black/mixed, queer femme from London, UK now living on the lands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh people. At the heart of all their work, Cicely Belle harnesses their passion for justice, liberation and meaningful change via transformative education, always with laughter, and fearlessly in the face of systemic oppression. They are noted for founding Black Lives Matter Vancouver and subsequently being listed as one Vancouver’s 50 most powerful people, and one of 150 Black women and non-binary people making change across Canada. This is an invitation to Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, trans, non-binary and other people with fabulous diverse sexual and gender identities (LGBTQ...2+) across Canada who have an interest in the impacts of COVID-19 on our LGBTQ2+ communities. We seek Community Advisors to provide input on a national study on the unintended impacts on and prevalence of the COVID-19 pandemic among LGBTQ2+ people. Community Advisors will inform the online questionnaire and recruitment plan to reach 10,000 LGBTQ2+ people nationally. Online survey participants will have the option to receive a mailed-home kit to collect a few drops of blood that will be tested to see who got COVID-19. Our findings will inform future public health action to improve the health, well-being, and safety of LGBTQ2+ people. This includes mental and physical health, and experiences of discrimination and violence.

Future policies and programs for trans and non-binary folks should not assume monogamy and should affirm diverse relationship types. Limited population data exi...sts about the experiences of trans and non-binary sexual minority people in Canada. To bridge this knowledge gap, CBRC produced a report on the health and well-being of trans and non-binary participants from their Sex Now 2018 survey. PrEP: Who’s Not Getting It? It’s been nearly 5 years since Health Canada approved PrEP, yet the highly effective HIV prevention tool remains underutilized or... out-of-reach for far too many. Despite PrEP becoming increasingly accessible and well-known, critical gaps remain in reaching many gay, bi, trans, Two-Spirit, and queer men (GBT2Q), including GBT2Q who are Black, Indigenous, or who use drugs. Who has been left behind in our PrEP education and advocacy, and what can be done to address these disparities? This panel will highlight findings from PrEP research studies and frontline service provider perspectives to identify key groups who may need greater support to access PrEP. The panel will also provide an open discussion on what service providers, community organizations, and other stakeholders can do to improve equitable access to PrEP for everyone in Canada.
