One of our local youngsters is making a major difference in another childs life! Lauren Morgan is donating her hair to wigs for kids but she needs some help! Donations are still needed to help fund the actual making of the wig! I didn't realize this but Covid has even had an effect on hair donations! If you can afford to give a few dollars to help a child feel beautiful please do.. and if you can't that's ok too! Please consider sharing either way Thank you

Hey everyone, it's Ashley here.. Due to many unfortunate circumstances I have had to make the hard decision to close the doors to Generations Barber Shop permanently. As many of you know this Shop, My trade and the bonds I formed with all of you were my passion. One of the biggest factors in my decision are the limitations imposed by Covid19. The number of clients I would be able to service on a daily basis would be greatly reduced therefore making operations unrealistic wit...hin the current model. I will still be cutting hair and offering my services to the islands (there may be an extra charge for gas but I will travel ALMOST ANYWHERE on Vancouver Island, Gabriola, Protection, Denmin, Hornby, Saltspring etc.. PLEASE ASK) with Covid precautions and procedures in place while in a slightly different capacity. Generations Mobile Barbering will be offering in-home (indoor and outdoor) appointments for folks who meet the current Covid requirements. Hello Everyone, Ashley here to give an update! The shop will not be opening until end of August at the earliest, however in the meantime, I am currently booking home appointments for clients who meet the safety parameters of a standard covid 19 checklist. Due to the new safety measures, increased sanitation and the cost of additional equipment and supplies required to operate safely, haircut prices have inevitably increased, but in an effort to keep haircuts affordable for families discounts will be offered on 3+. Hi friends it's mandy, Ashley's assistant at the barber shop ... To our friends and family of Generations barber shop. We hope that you are all staying safe and healthy. We know these are very trying times for everyone . It's times like these when we need to be there for each other and help each other when we can . ... Ashley is such a deserving candidate for donations . As a small business owner there is no immediate financial relief. Not all small business owners will qualify for this financial help . Unfortunately Ashley has had to close her doors at the barber shop. Because of the covid 19 virus. Which is her only source of income. She has worked tirelessly for 8 years mostly as the only barber on site. She would come in early or stay late for her valued customers of Generations barber shop. She loves you all so very much and is still more concerned about many of her clients then her own self. She is a selfless human . Always up for a good heart to heart when you sat in her chair , she made you feel like you were the only person in the room. She has such a calm and kind demeanor when it comes to children . She would also make them feel like they were the only one in the room. She could talk up a storm even with the kids. Always distracting them with a good paw patrol show or a good racing game. She is a special person. Well my friends she is having financial difficulties and we need to gather around her and support her as she has supported us for many years. I know everyone is struggling but even if it's a small donation every bit will help pay her lease on the shop, to keep the doors open for when this virus has cleared up . We want to show you that you are not alone in your monotony and give you the opportunity to see what we're up to during our unexpected time off. It may sound like a piece of cake, finding things to do in a city that is CLE...ARLY steeped in the arts! While We can't deny we draw a slight advantage from being located on what is arguably the busiest corner in the downtown core, We are not bragging when we say that we are often treated to the show's provided by locals. They often express themselves in all styles of dance, miming, and monolouge and on not so rare occasions all three of these mediums work to escape an individual at once. But tent city gained momentum only a few short years ago and during its occupancy did major damage not only to the local businesses but it had a major adverse effect on the entire community that has since lingered. Downtown technically endured the fallout, but addiction is often a slippery slope and an alarming number of folks in our city have been enjoying an unlimited supply of air hamburgers ever since. With Nanaimo being World? renowned for our tenting accommodations and impeccable taste in the high end fashion Generations simply could not let the opportunity go by to give some laughter back to the community that introduced "harewood dinner jackets" to the world. That same group of amazing clients, neighbors and friends that has supported us throughout the amazing times and the tough times. We simply could not be where we are without all of you! Fortunately, even though Self isolation is the color of the season and it seems that either boredom or panic will continue sweeping the globe without relief. We are extremely fortunate to have each other and the technology to bridge the gap between families, friends and neighbors. Laughter will help us calm our fears during these uncertain times and we will have plenty of that my friends! You can count on it Ash

Today, I made the unavoidable decision to shut down Generations until further notice. I locked the door to my second home indefinitely for the first time since we opened the doors in February 2012. In 8 years downtown I thought I'd seen and heard it all. Nothing at this point could surprise me until.. Coronavirus. Until now we have survived it all, and in fact the Barber Shop has thrived. Our continued growing success has largely been due to our amazing clientele - thru w...ord of mouth we were built by loud and loyal locals (some not so local ). Without fail you beautiful souls have advertised for and supported us, thru thick and thin and in return I have worked tirelessly to be true to my mission in providing a safe space that is open to everyone without barriers. We are proud at Generations Barber Shop to be a private unbiased place to vent, rant and rave without judgement. A comfortable, neutral place to celebrate and commiserate with someone who listens and is supportive and honest. My heart breaks writing this but as long as I cannot guarentee client safety, the only comfort I can take is in knowing that ultimately I am doing the right thing. Uncertain times sometimes call for sacrifice and protecting your health and welfare is my first priority, I hope this change is in time to make a viable difference. For now I feel it is in the best interest of my clients, their families and our community to voluntarily shut down until it's deemed safe for social distancing to come to an end. Isolation can be hard and lonely, but please know that you are not alone. We miss you all and we are sending positive and healthy vibes your way. Please be kind to each other in the coming weeks and if you're able, reach out to neighbors and others within the community who may need support.. together we can make a difference. Information Regarding the COVID-19 (Corona Virus) March 17th 2020: At Generations Barber Shop we are closely monitoring information regarding the COVID-19 Virus (Corona Virus) as it becomes available. At this time we are open by appointment and are accepting healthy clients and we will remain open as long as we are able under the current circumstances. ... We want our clients to know that we are taking the matter very seriously and on top of our regular cleaning schedule, we have started staggering appointments to reduce the amount of people in the shop at any given time. This also allows us to better sanitize in between clients and while we always appreciate our clients efforts to arrive early, you can help us by getting to the shop at the start of your appointment instead until further notice. In addition, to help protect everyone's health and wellness we have been implementing the Canada World Health Organizations (CWHO) guidelines on healthy hygiene practices and ask that anyone who visits the shop - please use the hand washing stations made available both when you arrive and before you leave. We are a close knit community and we can all do our part to help keep our seniors, and families safe *PLEASE RESCHEDULE* at anytime if you, your household or someone you've been in contact with meets any of the following criteria: within the last 2 weeks - *traveled outside the country, *been on an airplane, or are *showing signs or symptoms of a cold or flu.
