Stay tuned . . . I have the whole Spring/Summer's worth of activities to catch up on! My oh my . . . where do I begin! It was definitely a good season of programs!

Just had to share this memory that came up on my page today. What a fantastic trip! We used geocaching as a way to discover many amazing places in New Brunswick! We learned about some of the history, geography, science, art, nature, and tourism from the areas we passed through! Geocaching is not simply a game we play, we use it to expand our knowledge, and enhance our experiences as we visit new places in our travels! If you're reading this post, I challenge you to consider using geocaching as a way to learn more about the world around you?

Last week Geocaching Unlimited had the opportunity to provide a team building activity for a group from MacKay CEOForums. We chose to run an Amazing Race/Geocaching activity in downtown Paris, which proved to be both interesting and well received. Each of the teams were required to complete a number of tasks like . . . locate specific historical information, eat food with varying degrees of heat, find several geocaches, purchase carnations and distribute them to random people... throughout their tour of downtown, take several creative group selfies, find an official geocache, and even mail me (13coach13) a postcard! These CEO's were a fantastic group to work with, and they really seemed to enjoy all of the hoops they had to jump through in order to complete the activity! Of course thinking outside the box is their specialty, and of course they all ROCKED the activity! We heard some great reports from them once the activity was finished, and it seemed to be a perfect fit for their retreat. WOW! What a totally AWESOME day! Recently our team had the privilege of working with the students, staff and families from the Lloyd S. King Elementary School. We set up Primary, Junior, and Intermediate activities during the school day for 135 students in Grades K-8, and then ran an Earth Day themed geocaching activity for school families after supper. The Intermediate Division worked their way through their activity locating 21 different geocaches where their teams were req...uired to complete tasks or answer questions before continuing on to the next geocache. They worked very well together, and enjoyed the activity so much that several of them even returned after recess to help the youngest students with their activity. It was great to see the older students working with the Primary Division, and encouraging them as they searched for each of the hidden geocaches. There were lots of smiles and excitement as they all progressed through their circuit. The Junior Division raced through their activity with giggles and laughter coming from all of the groups at one time or another. As they were filling out their evaluation sheets at the end of their activity, they were asked, On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate this activity? There was zero hesitation for one boy in this group. He could hardly contain his excitement as he blurted out . . . ELEVEN! That TOTALLY made our day! It’s so much fun to see kids participate wholeheartedly, and speak from their hearts! We were so pleased to work with all of these very respectful, friendly and helpful students! Many of them thanked us for running the activity for them, and talked about how much fun they had. After supper we had the privilege of working with several of the school families. We loved seeing the parents go all in as they ran, climbed and yelled out required lines and phrases at each geocache! Parents had a fun time with their kids and held nothing back! Thank you teachers, staff, students and parents for having us join you for some outdoor fun and fresh air! We loved spending time with all of you!

Well, Geocaching Unlimited has just completed another successful round of geocaching activities with Healthy Kids Community Challenge! We had a great time, and if smiles, giggles, and happy kids count for anything . . . we're pretty sure the participants had a great time, too! Here are a few stats for you . . . We provided 6 activities (2 other activities were canceled due to weather issues).... We had the privilege of working with; 52 families = 185 participants = 65 adults + 120 children. 100% of the families new to geocaching told us that they would definitely go geocaching again if they had the chance! 2/3 of the families who participated in our activities were first time geocachers! About 1/3 of the families who participated were involved in our activities in the past, and wanted to go geocaching with us again! It was another very enjoyable experience for us, and we hope to see the Healthy Kids Community Challenge back in another year!
