Friends in St. John's, join geologist-in-residence Jack Botsford for a Geological Survey Public Lecture entitled "Fogo Island: At the Intersection of Geology and Art" happening at the Delta Hotel Harbourview Ballroom tomorrow, November 7, at 7:30pm. Free & all are welcome to attend. Jack has participated in five residencies with us on Fogo Island and he brings a wealth of knowledge to our program as both an artist and a geologist. He is the co-author of "Raised Beaches and Dr...opped Stones" alongside visual artist Rona Rangsch under the pseudonym Four Good Eyes. Jack worked in the resource industries as an exploration geologist before returning to graduate school in New Zealand and Newfoundland, completing a Ph.D. at Memorial University in the 1980s. He has lived in St. John’s for 35 years. Participating in the GatE program takes him back to one of his favourite parts of geology the fieldwork. See more
