**REGISTRATION UPDATE** We have been receiving a number of inquiries regarding our 2020-2021 season. Unfortunately, we are still not able to give a timeframe for when we may be able to start our program. We review the possibility regularly, taking into account current case numbers within our area, the government recommendations and the feasibility of safely starting. The best we can say at this time is maybe January but that is totally dependent on the current status of the pandemic. Stay safe, stay healthy and hopefully we will be able to see you soon!

A survey will be coming out in the next week to gather information regarding interest in returning, safety measures etc. The survey will be sent via email, the website and this Facebook page. NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK! A message from our president: April 19-25 is National Volunteer Week and we at GBSA have some of the most amazing people that help keep us up and running week after week and year after year. Now that we are at Kinsmen arena and our 18 teams play on the same day I have become more aware of how much we’ve grown over the past 51 years. I have been fortunate to be involved in GBSA since 1975 and if my memory serves me correctly we only had a few teams wh...en I started. Back then I never would have thought that we would continue to flourish and grow to such a large organization with 6 teams in 3 different age divisions for a total of 18 teams. This longevity and growth does not happen easily or without a lot of hours of work and dedication, we were not able to do this alone. Your GBSA Board is well aware that over the many years of continued growth we have had many amazing caring individuals whom have helped us along the way. GBSA has no paid staff and every person involved in our program is a Volunteer filling many different roles; Board Members, Head Coaches, Assistant coaches, Time Keepers, Equipment management, Conveners, Parent Reps, Parent Rep Co-Coordinator, On-ice skaters and On-ice Instructors for our 2 different levels of our weekly Hockey School. I have done some rough calculations bearing in mind that some of the positions are covered by the same person and some positions require more time than others and I came up with a number that is staggering. GBSA has a volunteer base of approximately 112 people; some are our parents and many others do not have a child in our program. These amazing people cumulatively give over 2772 hours a season to our Organization! In addition to this we have a Board of Directors that cumulatively volunteer at least another 86 hours a month. So as you can see we CANNOT do this without all of you and we are very fortunate to have your Help and Dedication. As you know, our season did not end the way we would have liked. This was difficult for all but hopefully everyone is able to stay safe and healthy until we can overcome this horrific Covid-19 and we can come together stronger than ever for our 52nd Season. Thank you again for all that you do and we miss all of you. Stay Safe. Murray Howard
