Starting April 1, family and friends can visit their loved ones in long-term care and assisted living facilities more regularly. All social visits still need to be scheduled in advance. People living in long-term care can now have: Indoor visits with two visitors (+ 1 child) at the same time More social visitors outdoors, in accordance with current PHO guidelines More flexibility on where, when, and how often visits can take place, including in residents’ rooms Visit...s for a minimum of 60 minutes Physical touch between residents and their visitors with infection prevention and control measures in place Support to leave the facility for family visits (not just essential outings) and will not be required to isolate upon return These changes are possible because the majority of residents and staff have received protection with their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. To commemorate the passing of two very important figures in our community, I had the honour of delivering a eulogy for both Mr. Jack Chow and Colonel Howe Lee. Their contributions will remain a legacy for generations to come and will be dearly missed.
