Friends and neighbours of District 3: Thank you The opportunity to run as a candidate for District 3 councillorship has allowed me to meet many people. I have knocked on many doors, listened to many concerns, and shared many conversations with some of you. These were all very rewarding experiences for me! Thank you for the meetings and the conversations, I appreciate it all. ... To those that shared their concerns with me, I encourage you to pass them on to District 3’s Councillor Becky Kent. I hope she will be able to resolve all of your concerns favorably. Some of the concerns raised during this municipal election included affordable housing, defunding the police, family doctors, living wage, mental health, racism, and people living with disability. The provincial election is just around the corner, I promise to touch on these issues for our District on a provincial level. Please, stay connected as we move forward. Thank you for your support!

Odour Neutralization for Eastern Passage Water Treatment Facility Atmospheric pollution, in the form of foul odours, can be extremely stressful for citizens living around or passing by the source. The odours released from water treatment plants can be traced to a by-product of the decomposition of organic compounds, called hydrogen sulfide. Residents of District 3, living in Eastern Passage have complained for years about the foul odour resonating from the local water treatme...nt facility. The Halifax Water Commission is aware of the unhealthy and unacceptable situation concerning their plant. According to CTV Atlantic’s 2019 report, the Halifax Water commission stated that deteriorating underground pipes feeding waste-water to the plant are releasing the odour into the surrounding atmosphere. The next logical step is that the Halifax Water Commission should propose a solution and rectify this problem. Possible solutions would be to reinforce the affected pipes or replace them completely. As the Halifax Water Commission is responsible for the continued operation and maintenance of its waste-water treatment facilities, they are to be held accountable to all issues concerning their infrastructure. If elected, I will communicate with the Halifax Water Commission and ensure they complete all appropriate updates to waste-water treatment facilities in District 3!

Simulating HRM Small Business Sector Through Local Content Policy One definition of a small business is a company that has anywhere from two to one-hundred employees based on the country and area of operation. Small businesses provide opportunities for entrepreneurs, create meaningful employment; and help to stimulate and support local economies and communities. Small businesses in District 3 can become more sustainable if the Halifax Municipal and Nova Scotia Provincial Go...vernments implement a Local Content Requirement policy. A Local Content Requirement is a policy that requires businesses or firms to use a minimum percent of locally manufactured goods or locally supplied services in order to operate in an economy. The goal is to promote local input and services; and equip local businesses with the opportunity to gain skills needed to compete nationally and globally. This policy supports small businesses allowing them to thrive and enhancing their competitive advantage.
