For those of you that are working and need to wear a mask each day, this episode of Learn True Health talks about some easy lifestyle changes to improve overall health. In Ashley’s interview with Dr. Krause they talk about a condition called Hypoxia, which is when a part of the body experiences lack of oxygen. If you think about it, having that mask on for 8-12 hours a day means that you are not breathing in clean oxygen. This can lead to hypoxia and begin to cause dizzin...ess, fatigue, and most commonly chronic headaches. Ashley suggests before and after you go to work to go outside and really breathe as deeply as you can to oxygenate your body; before work to wake up and after work to wind down. Breathing is SO important. In yoga it is called our Prana, our life force. I highly suggest listening to the interview and ALL of the other Learn True Health podcasts for everything on holistic health and well being.

Six weeks Postpartum! Today we decided to start River on a daily feeding and napping schedule, up until now we have been pretty much working around her wants and needs as she demands them. But some structure is needed so Mama can start getting a little more sleep at night. We are on track for the day so far, we visited the midwives for our 6 week discharge appointment- River now weighs 11 pounds 5 ounces!- and she went down for her afternoon nap and let me get in about 25 m...inutes of uninterrupted MAT TIME! Still working on neck and shoulders because carrying a baby is hard on those areas & Im working on getting my hips back in place and correcting a very nasty sciatica problem I’ve been experiencing since about 15 weeks pregnant. Not all Monday’s are bad! Hope you are all having a great start to your week Stay tuned for some new videos to come soon Namaste

I specialize in and mostly teach/practice yin yoga and since giving birth I have become exponentially more grateful for this practice that I was before I got pregnant. Taking the time to slow down, BREATH deeply, and connect with your body is so so important. Even just for 5 minutes. Here are 3 really great & easy to do stretches for your neck, shoulders and upper back. All you need is a place to sit- although you can’t see in these pictures I am sitting on the ground on a ...bolster to elevate my hips. 1) Extend one arm out to your side and tilt your head the opposite direction. For a little more to the stretch place your free hand on top of your head and let gravity do the work. Close your eyes and take as many long deep breaths as you like. Switch and repeat on the opposite side. Remember to keep your spine straight in this pose and to not slouch. 2) Seated eagle arms: Take your right arm under your left in front of your body, entwine are so that palms come together, if you cannot do this just give yourself a big bear hug. Breath into your upper back and between shoulder blades. Switch and repeat with left arm under right. 3) Seated Cat & Cow: Inhale and use your hands on your knees to draw yourself forward, relax shoulder blades down the back, open up your chest and gaze to the sky. Exhale to lean back, rounding back and shoulders, and tucking chin to chest. Repeat these movements with the flow of your breath; as fast or slow as you’d like. These poses can be done easily at a desk, on your lunch break, or quickly before bed to relax and remove tension from your neck to help get a better sleep. Remember to stay present with your body and relax your jaw! Enjoy.

Hey friends it’s been a while COVID-19 has had me at home since March 15, I was roughly 23 weeks pregnant at the time and still full of energy. My plan was to do videos online daily, post fun recipes that we were all trying to keep occupied while cooped up, and generally just live out the rest of my pregnancy being as active as possible! Well if you’ve ever been pregnant.. you know that sometimes things just don’t go the way you want them too. Being home for nearly 18 wee...ks pre-baby gave me time to organize and clean my home, educate myself for what was to come, relax and enjoy all the moments of down time before I’m caring for a baby 24/7.. and so that’s what I did. I found myself constantly thinking about who I want to be as a mom and who I want to be as a person after living through a pandemic. I realized that sharing content on social media every day and keeping up with everyone else just wasn’t who I wanted to be. Anyways... here I am now 4 weeks postpartum. I am feeling OK physically and emotionally. On a more spiritual level I feel such a huge sense of power. Giving birth was, let’s just say, intense... but such an amazing experience. I haven’t done a lot of yoga, mostly just enjoying being able to lay flat on my back or stomach LOL but I’m ready to get back on my mat more often and to reconnect with all of you! Have you been on your mat lately? If so what are you working on?! This week I’ll be focusing for myself on neck and shoulders because breastfeeding and burping a baby is tough work!

If you didn’t already know, I am sad to announce that I have had to close the studio and hand over the keys to my precious space Due to COVID-19 and my pregnancy it just was not feasible for me to wait things out and continue to keep the studio. The universe apparently has different plans for me then I orginally thought! I worked as hard as I could in the amount of time I had there to build something great! And I am so grateful for the space I had and the people that helped... me build it. This does not mean my yoga teaching journey has ended by any means! Yoga is my life, my passion, my soul and most days my reason for being. It’s saved me and helped me in so many ways I can’t even begin to list them. I have spent the last few weeks moving out of the studio, organizing my home and getting ready for life with a baby. Understandably most provinces have not yet set a date for gyms and yoga studios to reopen, and I’m sure when they do the safety precautions needed will be heavy. I am still trying to wrap my head around this virus and how drastically it has changed the lives of everyone across the planet. My hopes are high for stronger communities and the economy to get back to a new normal. For now, I will spend my time relaxing, preparing for baby, brainstorming ways to create a new business model when I do decide to return to teaching and of course doing tons of yoga! I plan to continue sharing on this page things that inspire me, small videos and yoga inspiration Seriously from the bottom of my heart I thank everyone for following along on my journey and sharing my love of yoga. Namaste

Something warm on a cold day! This hot drink is a great and healthy alternative for that afternoon cup of coffee or latte with way too much sugar in it. No refined sugar, no preservatives, no dairy. Turmeric has amazing anti inflammatory agents which help with thousands of bodily ailments- lowers blood sugar, decreases inflammation in the gut, aids in depression (who knew) and is also super great during pregnancy by helping the immune system and relief of joint swelling and... pain. Adjust ingredients to your taste- I added a little extra maple syrup and left out the black pepper. DELISH. Happy Quarantining!

Hello wonderful friends. I have not disappeared! I’ve been at home hunkering down and honestly extremely exhausted and unmotivated I found out today from a recent blood test I have low low Iron which is most likely the cause of my fatigue, headaches, and my lack of motivation. Thanks to my midwifes for this information hopefully I can increase my iron intake and get some energy back! This is my current set up for my daily yoga practice I do hope to get on and do a few ...more Live Classes (either prenatal, gentle or yin yoga) before baby arrives- less then 12 weeks away! I’d love to see what you all have set up for your own at home yoga practices- drop a pic in the comments If you are ever in need of someone to talk to or some yoga advice never hesitate to send me a message- I’m literally always free to chat (even at 3 AM when I’m wide awake eating a bowl of Cheerios ) Stay home & stay safe, we are all in this together

I’ll be going Live today at 8 PM instead of 1 PM.... for a calming Yin Yoga class! My favourite way to wind down from the day is a long, deep stretch. Feel free to dim the lights and burn some candles to help enhance your relaxing experience. See you then
