Drumroll please We are so excited to announce this year’s 26th annual Gutsy Walk National Honorary Chair, Ashley Clark ! Since her diagnosis with Crohn’s dis...ease in 2012, Ashley has become more and more involved in the Crohn’s and Colitis Canada community as a volunteer for our Victoria and Campbell River chapters in BC. Over time, she has developed confidence in sharing her story, with the hopes of inspiring others to be open about their Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis experience so that people affected by these diseases know they are not alone. As a recipient of our AbbVie IBD Scholarship, Ashley is now completing a Master of Arts degree in Social Dimensions of Health before pursuing her ultimate dream of becoming a counsellor for those living with chronic diseases like Crohn’s and colitis . We are making an end of year appeal to support our GEM Project. Crohn's and Colitis Canada's Genetic, Environmental, Microbial (GEM) Project is a global research study that looks to uncover possible triggers of Crohn’s disease. There are no known causes or cures for IBD, and the more we learn about the possible causes, the better ability we have to prevent the disease from taking hold in the first place. With 107 global recruitment sites, with locations in Canada, Israel, the United States, Sweden, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia this is a significant project for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada. We hope you will consider contributing toward this important research by visiting our Gift of Giving page. Thank you! hibid.ca/events/the-gift-of-giving
