INCREASING YOUR DATABASE. One common mistake we all make day after day is that when we meet someone new, we, including myself, SOMETIMES forget to ask and repeat the name of the person two to three times and get his or her business card or contact information. When I do get the contact information, I write a polite note to the contact, just to say how happy I was to make the acquaintance and we discussed such and such which was very useful information. I and I look forward to... our continued friendship. THAT'S IT - AND I ADD THE CONTACT INFORMATION TO MY MAILING LIST FOR FUTURE MASS EMAILS! Try that! Here is one idea: Because I gave time to a potential client and answered his general questions with patience, he became my client and admitted I was one of 5 accountants he had spoken to in one day. That tells me that spending time with a possible client does have it’s rewards, if one is not just looki...ng at a billing at the end. After all, that’s one of the many things we will be talking about; meeting people, mingling, going to group meetings to MEET people.
