The Government of Canada has designated March 11 a National Day of Observance to commemorate the people who lost their lives and the significant impacts we have all felt because of COVID-19. GFD joins all Canadians in honouring the memory of those we have lost, and the people they left behind. GFD would also like to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to our friends and colleagues in the Bereavement Sector for your dedication and resolve as you cared for, and supported the familie...s of, the over 22,000 Canadians who have died of the pandemic to date. #thankyou #covid19 #thereforyourcommunities #nationaldayofobservance

Last week we proudly presented Nicole Pettypiece from Collège Boréal with this year's GFD Bursary. The bursary is awarded to a graduate who possesses great communication skills and who personalized, in a significant manner, the funeral services of his/her families. Way to go Nicole!
Merci beaucoup Collège Boréal for inviting GFD's Matt Wren and Susan Barrett to discuss preneed funding products with this year’s Funeral Director class. C’est un honneur d’aider autant d’esprits brilliants!
Our very own Susan Barrett was honoured to present an overview of GFD's Preneed Funeral Funding Products to over 80 licensed funeral directors in Nova Scotia on Tuesday! The webinar was part of a series of provincial continuing education sessions sponsored by Nova Scotia Community College
With respect and honour, we thank all veterans for their service to our great country. Please be advised that the GFD staff will be observing a moment of silence on November 11 at 11:00 EST during which time we will take a brief pause from answering phonecalls. We will be operating at full service levels for the remainder of the day. #lestweforget #remembranceday #momentofsilence #thankyou

End-of-life decisions can be overwhelming, but making those choices when she was healthy gave her more control. Knowing that she’d ease the burden on her family if the worst happened also gave her peace of mind. It would be easier for people around me to know what I want, she said.
A message of solidarity and support from General Dallaire to all bereavement professionals, during this challenging time. We hope to see you at the OACFP Annu...al Conference in Lac Leamy on October 6-8, 2020. Until that time, we salute you. #Covid19 #frontlineworkers (En français ci-dessous) See more
"The minute is a way to remind ourselves that we are all connected regardless of situation or circumstance. My father is everyone's father, or husband, or grandfather, or friend," Carolyn Freyer-Jones told CNN. https://www.cnn.com//friday-minute-hugh-freyer-/index.html
"The Zoom funeral left me feeling much more connected to everyone involvedand to everyone else who has lost a loved one during this pandemic. And it made me appreciate the ways technology like Zoom can make clearer our shared experienceshow it can literally show us all the other livesand deathshappening one 'square' over."

"Considering our own demise is certainly not an enjoyable topic to think about, let alone discuss with our loved ones, however avoiding it can ultimately cause more stress than actually having that difficult conversation." https://www.goulburnpost.com.au//professionals-in-planning/

We hope everyone had a fantastic Canada Day yesterday! Last year the GFD/FPC teams celebrated with a food truck and some outdoor games. A little known but proud fact is that we invest all of our funds in Canada - whether you use our Trust, Insurance, or Care & Maintenance products. #joinGFD #CanadaDay #InvestInCanada #TBT
