[2/4] While we were in Iqaluit, Nunavut, we sat down with with key leaders and participants of Tukisigiarvik Society (the name Tukisigiarvik means a place to find understanding). We had never experienced a place like Iqaluit before: it felt as though time and space stretched and compressed in the absence of trees and basic reference points that give us bearing and familiarity where we live in Ottawa, Ontario. The parallel with our interview was strong: where we have had bee...n used to a we have been used to a certain coolness and reserve in formal discussions in our day to day consulting work, this interview was somehow both warm and jarring. The interview guide cast aside, we sat together in the community centre, a mug of tea warming our hands and a plate of bannock to accompany it.
