When I was 9, I formed a singing group. I had the front cover of our album all planned out. ( yes album, that’s how old I am). I was the lead, of course and my friends were the backups. It didn’t matter that we couldn’t sing we just had fun pretending to perform and expressing ourselves. Fast forward to today and I still enjoy expressing myself, this time through fitness and dance. One of the things I enjoy about fitness / being active is it can be the ultimate challenge for you, physically and mentally. Whether you’re doing a class or running a race, you may hit a place where you ask yourself, how much longer or where you feel like stopping. What I enjoy about teaching is showing you how much strength you have. You may want to stop at 20 squats but I will challenge you to do 40. If you don’t get to 40 and you only did 25, you’re a winner because in...-spite of being tired, you kept on going. GhanaGirl Fitness is all about encouraging you to do more than you think is possible for yourself. You can do one more push up, you can get through an intense cardio drill, and you can learn that dance routine. Let’s workout together, let’s encourage each other, anything is possible for us. Hi Friend, in my IG Story I asked you what gets in the way of your workouts. Is it injury, time, not sure what to do for your workouts? I’m not sure how you responded and it really doesn’t matter because it’s just an excuse. Ouch, sorry friend, but it’s time for some real talk Back in the day I dated a guy who expressed his desire and interest in exercising but he couldn’t fit it into his schedule. No matter what solution or advice I offered he came back with, Naah that wo...n’t work because xyz I remember feeling bad because I couldn’t find a workable solution for him. That relationship didn’t last very long, it was shorter than Vanilla Ice’s career. Why? Because he was always coming up with an excuse as to why we couldn’t hang out. I was feeling bad about the situation until a friend of mine said something to me that was liberating, If he wanted to, he would make the time. It’s so simple but very true. I realized that this statement holds true for anything that we are trying to accomplish. If it’s important and your why is strong enough, you will find a path to reach your goal. I’m not saying that your reasons are not valid, I’m just saying that we need to examine what we are telling ourselves and treat it as a problem to solve instead of something we should accept. I’m not perfect and I have yet to perfect this. The above statement has helped me weed out the bullshit I tell myself so I hope it does the same for you.
