After looking at our options, I’m sad to say that an event this year doesn’t look feasible. We are going to miss seeing all of your lovely faces. But, we plan to be back in 2021, eager to skate and see our friends again. Big thanks to @visit_summerland for helping us navigate this situation, @landyachtz for always having our backs, @pabstcanada for always bringing the stoke and sharing the love, and the many people who help us create this event! @cometskateboards showed up to last year’s event with a couple prototypes of their new flagship board, the Cruiser. Since then, they’ve relaunched their website and brought this wiggle stick to the masses. They sold out of their first round of boards last week so if you want to test ride on this year you’ll have to ask one the proud owners for a turn. Giant's Head is a freeride. The goal is for us to get as many runs per day and have the most fun possible. - $, ... The MVP of Giant's Head is the rider who stands out as pushing the boundaries of skating and inspiring others. In our minds, this is the most important recognition of the event. - $, , Registered riders will be given 3 poker chips when they sign in at the event. Chips can be used as wagers for racing at any time the road is open for skating. Racers with the largest wager will have start line priority. However, these racers must be at the start line, ready to go. All other riders, including racers with wagers, can go at their own discretion, once the road is open. If you're still at the top when the road becomes closed, you will have to wait for the next run. Racers do not have right of way on the hill. As always, riders in front of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to stop safely and avoid injuring those around you. No race heat is more important than the health and safety of others. Wins/losses are settled among riders. Giant's Head staff will not be settling disputes or claims regarding races or any other type of wager. The chips have no monetary value. What else can chips be used for? Whatever you want. If you see someone do something worthy, give them a chip. If you want to have a hot dog eating contest (for some reason), put some chips on the line. They are here to add a little spice to the event and encourage creative ways to have fun on the hill and at the campsite. Our staff will also be awarding acts of heroism, kindness, helpiness, and steez with extra chips. You can actually win the event just by being rad.
