We celebrated Chipper’s birthday on one of the coldest days of the year! We couldn’t get to the Soft Rocks for his birthday (way too cold to walk there and back) so we celebrated Chippers 4th birthday in our woods instead. Join us in wishing Chipper a wonderful Birthday!

Our annual Admin Christmas looked a little different this year. We enjoyed each other’s company this morning- mat making over breakfast with lots of laughs and good cheer- hygge bags for all. Good Morning Giant Steps families- all locations are open as usual. HRCE has delayed opening elementary by 2 hours- school age children who are registered for before school care will have care as usual until school opens. Busses will collect children and French Village children will walk -departing at 10:20 am. Morning presxhool will run as scheduled.... Drive carefully and stay safe everyone!

Nova Scotia public school students will have an extended holiday break out of an abundance of caution. The last day of classes will be Dec. 18 and classes resum...e Jan. 11. School-based staff will be returning to schools on Jan. 4 for five days of professional learning. Principals, teachers, support staff, specialists and early childhood educators will be in school learning in areas such as inclusive education, social emotional learning and technology. -- Les élèves des écoles publiques de la Nouvelle-Écosse auront un congé des fêtes prolongé, par excès de prudence. Les cours se termineront le 18 décembre et reprendront le 11 janvier. Le personnel scolaire retournera à l'école le 4 janvier pour cinq jours de perfectionnement professionnel. At St. Nicholas Anglican Church (29 Westwood Blvd, Upper Tantallon) we are aware that Christmas is going to look very different for most families this year - fa...mily gatherings will be smaller and folks who may have never cooked a turkey, or couples who usually cook for dozens of people at Christmas may be asking "How, and should I, bother cooking Christmas dinner this year?" St. Nicholas, in partnership with professional chief Daniel Orovec, wants to make Christmas dinners available for our community. To accomplish this task we need your help. Many of our regular volunteers are seniors who are understandably staying home during this pandemic. We need a few more hands on Christmas Day to plate and package meals and clean up. We have a licensed kitchen and have social distancing measures planned that will make the work space safe.
