Hi guys, I had some trouble identifying this little guy; can any of you help me out? Until I know more, I think I'm gonna call him Yoga Bug. EXIF: 1/125th, f/6.4, IOSO320... Edit: Mystery Resolved: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axarus_festivus :D

Good morning and a wonderful day to all of you!

The intricate beauty of Tulips. To create this super-close-up Panorama I removed one petal from the flower, to open up a clear view of its inside. The image below consists from over 500 single shots, all shot at about 3.5x an manually merged.... First I staked the stamens and the pistil of the the flower, then I created this panorama, measuring 70.000 pixels in width. To get an idea of the original image size, please have a look at the second image, which was cropped to 100%. To optimize the image quality I rendered it at 35.000 px and uploaded it to flickr, where you can explore the photo it in more detail: https://flic.kr/p/2iQCV55 The reflection was added in post-production. EXIF 1/180th, f/6.4, ISO160

Just hanging out :) (archive photo, shot last fall. Exif: 1/200, f/8, ISO100)

Frost, growing on the underside of our patio table. I flipped the table on its side and waited for the rising sun to pour its golden light over the brick wall building in the background. A flash off to the side and set to 1/8th of its power was just enough to highlight the intricate structure of these ice crystals. EXIF: 1/125th, f/11, ISO160, manual focus stack from 6 frames

Overcast day? No problem, let's get creative indoors! This is my latest photo project: A dragonfly under UV light. This specimen is a Green Darner, even though non of its the shades that named it are visible in the ultraviolet spectrum. Instead we get to gaze at a otherworldly colour palette of Magenta and Blue. This is the result of invisible UV-light, slowed down in its frequency by the process of reflection. Therefore the light travels in longer waves, now within the very... subtle spectrum, and typically takes on bright neon-shades as in this image. A mushroom in the woods - this is one of the reasons, why I always carry a flashlight in my camera bag, and every now and then it pays off.. :) Do you have any special or odd items in your kit bag? 1/180, f/4.0, ISO100

These two ladybirds got up early to enjoy some of the last warm days of fall. When I came across this scene, the entire plant was covered in colonies of aphids and ladybirds. So I observed them for a while, trying to make out an appealing composition in a crowd of red and orange shells. As two of the insects each climbed one of the topmost leafs, the time had come to take the photos I had been waiting for. To get both ladybirds sharp and in focus I combined to exposures, taken handheld and in sequence. 1/200th, f/8, ISO100

"Stained Glass" - A new photo series I am working on. Can you guess the subject? Here's a little hint: It was shot at roughly 4x magnification... ;) EXIF: 1/200th, f/8, ISO100

At Artisan's Alley, here in London. I just can't get over how much inspiring art this place holds, it is literally stuffed with wonderful paintings, sculptures and now, thanks to the lovely store manager Dinny, also some of my photography. ;) Here in London, right on Horton Street, downtown.

Amazing shapes of water. Hi guys, a few weeks ago I did a photo session with milkweed seeds and water, remember? Well, at the time I took loads of images and I am still roaming through them on occasions, sometimes finding rare treasures like the image below. Apart from the colour palette, which was created with a Compact Disc and a flash, there is something else about this image, that will hopefully catch your eye... Did you discover the little column-shaped structure beneath... the large drop on the right yet? It's another water droplet, enclosed by a "tube" of silky hair and therefore taking on a cylindrical shape. As a little bonus for us macro photographer, water droplets also act as magnification glasses, when close enough to the subject behind; in this photo however the drop is sitting right on the silky seed-hair and magnifying its physical structure for the keen observer. Enjoy! EXIF: 1/160th, f/11, ISO125 Look behind the scenes: https://youtu.be/OYN3k5g5tMM

I spent the last couple year working hard on a presentable portfolio and after polishing a variety of my images for print I finally designed my first photo-book: The Giant World of Tiny Things. Due to the relativley small print quantity, of only ten pieces, I have to price these at $60 per piece. These are printed and manufactured locally and are the product of a lot of work and passion. I am going to set-up a webshop sometime in the near future, until then please order prints or books here on facebook, or via e-mail: [email protected]
