The coming of winter earned December's moon the name, the cold moon, and It was certainly cold last night....

Check out this essay on December’s cold paddling moon! (See album that follows the pic.) Yes, yes, it is not a canoeing shot, but it had to be done by a canoeist :) and it was by one of the Saint John group of fine paddlers. The zoom makes this high and distant moon look close and warm: it was not. Truly a Cold Moon.

Okay, this video is really just a Jack Pine advert but the photography is so wonderful it is worth sharing. Skip down to the video .... .

Notice how simple yet effective the counterweight idea is ( speed depends on the ease of repositioning the bag)? It improves both stability of the rw- entrance ( evidently) as well as water drainage. We ought to be doing well shot training video like this in NB ( hey there CKNB).

Bring your canoe and paddles to Dominion Park Beach any evening this week to catch the sunset on water, and maybe join the dance. I,ll set up the English gate with Canadian variations to deal with our accumulated rust, and maybe we will finish with a short race just to defy the old water gods and annoy the canoeing traditionalists. Sit up if your ankles are too creaky for kneeling! You may need something to blame poor buoy turns on, anyway. :) What could be more fun and still be legal?
