Thank you Sean D Eckford for capturing the essence of the visit by BCs Lieutenant Governor to Gibsons Resource Recovery Centre
British Columbias Lieutenant Governor Judith Guichon visited our Gibsons Recycling Depot yesterday, and her honour, who was very engaged, asked tons of questio...ns, was an absolute delight. We were so please that Janice Williams and Paul Clancy took so many amazing photos yesterday to capture the movement. Her honour herself comes from hearty stock and has a personal connection to recycling in Merritt some years ago. It seems natural leaders often arent in elected office and come from all walks of life. Barb and I given a lot of site tours over the past 13 years, this one was one of the most fun ones ever. A huge thank you to Lieutenant Governor Judith Guichon for attending, as well as our MLA and friend Nicholas Simons, our mayor James Wayne Rowe, councilors Jeremy Valeriote, Silas White and Charlene SanJenko SIB prayer giver Howard Paull, and his partner Deborah Baker, our dear friends. Huge shout out to all those who attended, including the Coast Reporters Sean D Eckford, Zero Waste Keats resident Tony Flynn, Mellon Glasss Wayne Harjula, who surprised everyone with his new kiln hes donated to GRD to teach young folks how to work with glass. And to fellow Gibsons Zero Waste Committee members Chris Odgaard and Brian Sadler, it was such a wonderful visit. Special thanks to our hard working staff who keep the "wheels turning", to Gojigo for supplying the grub, to Wheatberries for their great muffins and to Seaweeds for their amazing healthy drinks.
