GRANDMOTHERS ARE RESILIENT Children’s Chair Auction moves ONLINE Friday, DECEMBER 4th Sunday, Dec.13th When the Grandmother’s Charity Chair Auction was shut down in March this year, The Sunshine Coast Grandmothers and Grand Others were devastated, as were so many other groups that had to change their plans in a hurry. For the charity auction, 16 local artists had generously taken a children's wooden chair and lovingly turned it into a work of art. The Gibsons Public Art Ga...llery proudly displayed them in March, and was set to host an exciting auction. The Grandmothers had planned the event as a social gathering, with Ed Hill auctioning off the chairs to the highest bidder with class and with style. Well, that’s not going to happen in these COVID days! So, the Grandmothers have come up with a plan. Like so many other good charitable groups, we are going ONLINE! The chairs will be on display at Gibsons Public Art Gallery Friday, December 4 to Sunday, December 13. Our local Grandmother’s Group is part of the Stephen Lewis Foundation, stephenlewisfoundation.org. Bid on your favourite chair at any time of day. Go to the auction website to find images of the 16 chairs, instructions for bidding, and delivery and pick-up options: www.32auctions.com/grandmotherschairauction For other information, contact Joan Fox at [email protected]. Please refer to www.grandmotherscampaign.org for more information about this great cause. Betty Masson, 604-741-7676

GPAG has been working hard to bring the largest FINE ART LIBRARY to the Sunshine Coast. It was set to launch just as Covid shut us down in April. Plans are moving ahead to install professional metal library shelves too. The final cherry on the cake will be a securely mounted tablet of some kind which people can use to search the extensive list of titles and subjects, all labelled with their classification numbers on their spines. EXCITING! Does anyone have an older tablet that they might wish to DONATE to GPAG for this purpose? Or maybe you or your company might wish to donate a new iPad for this use? Wed be thrilled to hear from you and we hope to welcome you to make use of the library very soon.
