With current trends pertaining to the coronavirus updating and changing so quickly - we have made the decision to suspend all services until April at which point we will re-evaluate. Mark will still be available to take messages and plan appointments for future dates as well as support existing clientele where possible. Please everybody stay safe and practice social distancing, we will still be here once it's all over ready to resume. Mark will be reaching out to any clients who still have appointments and rescheduling moving forward. Thank you for your understanding.

When people tell me how much their horse loves their stall - or that their horse is so much more comfortable out of the elements. This has got to be the biggest myth that horse owners perpetuate amongst themselves. Your horse will thrive outdoors with free access food, water and shelter - THAT is offering your horse a comfortable and luxurious lifestyle, not the 10x10 cell that you pretty up

Please remember to be safe in weather like this. We are more than happy to shift appointments around to the next available date. As well thank-you for the understanding from your end when we need to cancel, sometimes the weather changes can be significant from region to region as we travel and we will opt to reschedule despite it being blue skies at one location.

This is a great summary of the basic procedure to calm a horse's separation anxiety (sometimes called "herdbound"). This method is perfect for building skills & confidence between our visits. In the absence of this foundation, the best temporary solution is to bring a buddy in with your "herdbound" horse. We frequently recommend this option to help ensure everybody's safety during trim appointments.

It can be so easy to get wrapped up in trying to impress others... making your trainer happy, hoping the judge likes what he sees, getting that perfect picture ...for social media, keeping up with the popular riders, avoiding being the subject of barn gossip, and whoever and whatever else...but that's not what being an equestrian is all about. Being an equestrian is about the horse. It's about your relationship, and about our love for our horses. It's about what our horses think about us and about their well being before anything else. Don't let trying to please others impact how and what you do with your horse, but don't hesitate to listen to educated and geniuenly caring advice. Don't let others opinions slow you down or second guess yourself, but be willing to learn and change if needed.. being an equestrian is a never ending journey. Do what you do for you... but most of all... do it for the horse. After all.. that's what being an equestrian is all about right? Where would we be without these amazing animals in our lives? #csTiger by @keep.it.loki

We are currently not accepting new trimming clients as Catherine's schedule is completely full. If you are seeking trimming services, we can offer some recommendations Mark's clients need not worry- due to the nature of his work, he is able to take on a much larger volume of clients & is still available for new bookings. Thank you everyone for an amazing 2018 so far- and we're only halfway through!

Is your horse experiencing pain or fear? How can you tell? This video is a good overview of facial expressions that may indicate pain:

Love this! Goes hand in hand with another favourite training tidbit of ours: don't think of your horse as giving you a hard time, rather, he is having a hard time.

Sounds about right!
