What’s your self-care plan for the next few weeks? Ontario’s going into lockdown again and the next little while is going to be challenging. Maybe your kids will be home. Maybe you will be laid off. Maybe you’ll be spending this time on your own. No matter what it looks like, I want you to actively plan your self-care now. Here’s what I’m planning: I’ll be taking online yoga and movement classes to connect with community and with my breath. While pre-recorded classes are ...great, I find live classes hold me more accountable. And I like knowing others are moving with me. I’m planning a couple of hours a few times a week to be on my own. This might look like reading in another room, going for a walk or taking a (child-free) bath. I’m making sure that Adam does the same. I’m planning some Zoom calls to have a glass of wine with a friend. It’s important to connect during this time. I’m going to be super vigilant with my sleep. I’m going to stay with a sleep schedule. If I need a nap, I’ll take one. I know that sleep has a huge impact on my mood. I’m going to work on a jigsaw puzzle. I have trouble doing non-productive leisure activities, but when I do them, I find that my creativity flows. Take some time today to think about what you need. What you really need. What makes you feel joy? What makes you feel calm? How can you nurture your relationships over the next few weeks? Let me know below what you’re planning. I’m sure you’ve got great ideas! #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #lockdownmentalhealth #onlineyogaclasses #selfcareisntselfish

Most of us have tight hips from the lifestyles that we live, mainly, lots of sitting. This can lead to back and knee pain. Here is a gentle sequence designed to help open those hips and make you more comfortable. Accessibility: This is a fairly gentle class done mostly on the back. There are two downward dogs. If it is difficult to get into the pigeon variation from downward dog, move into it from seated. If there is any knee pain, come out. Props: No props needed

Be careful out there, folks! In the last two days I’ve almost been hit twice while driving incredibly short distances. Both times it was because the other driver wasn’t paying attention. It makes sense that these types of driving mistakes will happen. We’re all dealing with varying levels of anxiety right now along with PTSD. Our brains just aren’t functioning like they should. Please, let this be a reminder that road safety always comes first. If you are behind the wheel, pu...t down your phone. Humans are terrible multitaskers, especially now. Consider taking a few grounding breaths before you set out. Watch for other drivers not acting the way you’d expect. Make as much eye contact as you can. And if you are feeling too distracted or worked up to drive, try to make other arrangements. We need you here #roadsafety #arrivealive #distracteddriving #traumabrain #ptsddriving

So many of us carry tension in our shoulders, neck and upper back. It cause headaches, jaw problems and sleep issues. In this video we move through a simple seated sequence to open the chest, stretch the side body, and soften the shoulders. Accessibility: We will begin seated and then move onto hands and knees. If sitting in cross leg is uncomfortable, you can sit in a chair or extend the legs in front of you. ... Props: I use a blanket, but it isn't required.
