Very dangerous but so cool. Back before health and safety existed, a company called 'Turbonique' founded by an aerospace engineer called Clarence Eugene "Gene" ...Middlebrooks, produced a product called a Drag back axle. This crazy invention was basically a gas turbine attached under the car directly to the rear axle, which would give up to a claimed power gain of 1300hp direct to the rear wheels when required. Being based on rocket fuel technology, there were a number of safety issues with these devices, for instance if the operator let off the throttle, then reapplied it, the device would essentially become a bomb.
