Hello friends, family and random strangers asking me questions..and yes it happens all the time! I thought I would try to do a little something with my Girl Friday @ Your Service FB Page. As you know I am a ' Jill of all trades' and is capable of doing almost anything. I am by no means perfect, (don’t tell Mike) but I rarely say no to a challenge. This week alone I have helped 3 random people at Art Knapp’s (who assumed I worked there) Last week it was someone at Rona and th...e week before 2 people at Purity Feed. The funny thing is I was able to answer almost all of their questions! I am going to start posting answers (according to Thea) and tips about gardening/ponds/fish/life whenever I think of something. If you have any questions please let me know and if I have an answer I will post it. Remember that my advice is MY learned advice and is either what works for me what my mom told me or what my dad said Cheers and Let’s see how this goes

Cover crops, or green manures are plants that are planted to cover the soil rather than for the purpose of being harvested. As we approach the season of Fall..., planting a cover crop in your garden is one of the most beneficial things to do. Never leave soil bare! Benefits include: * Organic * Legumes fix nitrogen into the soil to feed next years crop * Thick canopy prevents most weeds ****** * Till into soil and increase organic matter and nutrients in spring * Flowering species promote pollinating insects We will have perennial clovers like Red and White clover which can survive winter, continuing growth in spring. We will have crimson clover, berseem clover, peas, vetch and buckwheat, which are annuals that typically winter kill. Annual clovers should be planted early so they have enough growth to benefit. We also have Fall rye and Moats winter wheat in 25kg bags. We also have many options available for large scale gardeners and farmers with annual crops that require some winter cover. Planting date is one month prior to frost. Fertilize the cover crop with 46-0-0 For soil amendments we have Gypsum, blood meal, bone meal and alfalfa pellets which add beneficial nutrients and add organic matter as well.

I get this question all the time ..... I personally don’t deadhead 90% of the time. pwwin.rs/dhead
This would be great to add to your compost this year ..... for next years garden!
Don't let pests plague your next outdoor soirée.
Are you storing your produce completely wrong?
