Girl, I'm Here for You

BUILDING PERSONAL SUPPORT SYSTEMS: Girl, I’m here for you At some point in my life, I found myself alone and completely isolated. I was going through such a difficult time; I was struggling financially, my relationship had just crumbled before my eyes, and it really felt like the world had gone completely dark. And for some reason, all the people I reached out to, my friends, just seemed otherwise preoccupied with other things. I began to feel that no one really cared, and wi...th each day that passed, I began to believe that, and the more I believed that, the more my world became darker. That didn’t mean I stopped realizing I needed people, someone, I just decided people were too busy to care. But the reality of things is that, when one falls, and they fall pretty hard, the inevitable happens. You get hurt, and sometimes, it’s not that you won’t have the will to get up, you just won’t have the strength to. When this happens, you’ll need a hand to help you up, you’ll need to lean on someone, sometimes a few somebodies as you walk with your limps. As you work on getting back your own strength, you are going to need to rely on the strength of others, maybe to get some supplies, to reach some stuff, to get in the shower, to walk, just to make your daily life a bit more easier. As each day passes, you will get your strength back, and one day, you will find yourself able to stand on your own two feet again. The bible says in Psalms 46: 1, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. And no truer word has been spoken. God is always there to offer His own strength when we lose sight of our own. But the way God gives strength, provides comfort, and is there for us, is through people. We go through so many challenges in life, we face so many hardships, but one thing that holds true is this, we don’t have to be alone. We don’t have to do it alone, we don’t have to go through life alone. Even when it comes to joyous events, you always need someone to share your news with, someone to share in your happiness, someone or people who will celebrate with you. So, whatever it might be, whatever you may be going through, don’t hide, don’t isolate yourself. Instead, come out of your shell; it might even be bright and sunny in there, but I’m pretty sure everyone needs a friend. So come out and let’s be friends. Or better yet, let us be more. Let us be women who share in this journey of life, let us be women who help each other walk according to purpose, and let us be women who build each other up.
