Our founder, @evans_leah just returned home from a 120km ski traverse through logging cut blocks throughout interior BC. An unlikely destination for a ski traverse as the mountains aren’t big and most of the landscape has been extensively logged (with the exception of one marked out old growth section). As a team it took us way longer to navigate the terrain due to impenetrable forest, super tightly spaced planted forest and logging roads. We had to ditch the topo maps and r...ely heavily on satellite images so we could link up logging roads and fresh cut blocks. It was an interesting trip because it made me realize how much we value certain landscapes in BC and how places out of sight/mind places are being extracted of their beauty until there is hardly anything left. We almost ran out of food, got some blisters, saw lots of lynx tracks, had some great chats but most of all we got to feel first hand the health of the landscape. I can't say I would do this route again but unlike any other ski trip it's left me motivated to do more for those places out of sight and mind. See more
