It is with heavy hearts we must announce that we have made the difficult decision to cancel our youth camp this August. Due to health and safety concerns for our campers and volunteers as well as the uncertainty we now face with our funding and venues, it is becoming increasingly clear that the best thing we can do is stay home and plan for next summer (which will be better than ever!). This camp is so very important to all of us on the Board of Directors, our campers, and t...he community, and we still want to keep you engaged as best we can. We are beginning to work on some free online programming such as instrument lessons, community building workshops, and hopefully even joining up with some other camps from around the globe! We will keep you posted on all the cool things we have in store to keep our Girls Rock Winnipeg community virtually connected in these wacky times! Stay safe and keep on rockin'! Love, Your Girls Rock Winnipeg Board of Directors

It’s the season of giving! What better way is there to support the local music community than donating directly? Many artists, festivals, venues, and music comp...anies have ways for direct donation, including PayPal, Patreon, GoFundMe, and more. There are also organizations and charities that are actively raising funds for ongoing emergency relief efforts for people working in music, including the Unison Benevolent Fund. Consider making a donation today! Local folks with campaigns and music charities, post the best way to donate to you in the comments! Want to support the music industry in Manitoba? Request it! Contact your favourite radio stations and let them know you want to hear local music. Whether it's a... particular artist you'd like to hear or just more local music, requesting local is a great way to discover new tunes and give local musicians some support. www.manitobamusic.com/supportlocalmusic

You can build your music collection AND support your favourite local artists and labels by shopping at their online stores, Bandcamp, and Tidal, or checking out stores that carry local music like Into the Music, Planet Sound, Riley Grae, and McNally Robinson.

We remember you Posted @withregram @rainbowresourcecentre A message to our Two- Spirit, Transgender, and Non-Binary family and pals: . Your existence is beautiful.... You are important to me. I love you. . CN: transphobia, anti-trans violence, death, suicide . Today is Transgender day of Remembrance. At the virtual vigils across the globe today, we remember those in our community who are killed for their actual or perceived trans gender identities by reading their names. Most of the names read each year are trans women of colour. However, let us not forget those whose names are missing from the list, such as those who died by suicide or are missing persons. Let us use today as fuel to continually fight for the protection of Two-Spirit, Transgender and Non-Binary individuals. To the youth who may feel like they don't have the resources to fight for themselves all of the time -- we see you, and we are working hard each day to create safe(r) spaces for you. You are welcome here and can always expect love and support from us. . [Image description: an illustration of six lit candles on a black background. The candles are the colors of the transgender flag: light pink, light blue, and white. Below the candles is text that reads "Your existence is beautiful. You are important to me. I love you."] .
