Sent on behalf of the community group who sent weekly live musical performances for the residents to enjoy ~ My name is Rob Peterson, co-producer of a weekly live music project named "Music Joy", for residents of Long Term Care in our region ~ offering music to 14 care homes in the Comox Valley, Campbell river, Powell River and Parksville. Each week a new live recording was shared; these were recorded by 5 local professional musicians. A sampling of the music performed by Ra...lph Barrat, Jenn Forsland, Anela Kahiamoe, Charlotte and Dave Harvey can be heard here: https://drive.google.com//1Dda3fHYf4XvTcjnwjHJHhI72uA/view The goal of these talented musicians was to bring a little Joy of Music to residents. This project began in December and in total 16 performances were shared between December and the end of May. If you would like to support our project, your contribution would be gratefully accepted. Etransfers can be sent to [email protected] or by mail to Kahuna Joy at 165 Ash Crescnt, Parksville, BC V9P 1H3

It's National Handwashing Day! Whether you are a member of the public, resident, visitor, essential care partner, healthcare provider or work in a healthcare setting, maintaining good hand and respiratory hygiene are very important personal practices that help reduce the risk of becoming infected or spreading infection to others. Check out #HandHygiene resources to keep yourself and your loved ones safe. Thank you for doing your part. http://ow.ly/pYOH50EwJov #CleanYourHandsDay #ResidentSafety

We are so thankful for the donations to the Legacy of Light fund. Donations help us to bring comfort to our residents. This year we hope to raise enough to update our main lounge and purchase new furniture. Thank you so much to the people who have donated thus far; we have currently raised $10,000 and are half way to our goal! There is still plenty of time to donate to the Legacy of Light program before it closes on January 31st, by visiting the donor section of our we...bsite at www.glacierviewlodge.ca We didn't want Christmas to pass without acknowledging the people that donations were made in memory or honour of. Glacier View Lodge 29.10.2020

Our most grateful thanks to the strong volunteer team that hoisted our tower into place in preparation for Christmas. Extra special thanks to Mike Bossom for all his organization that allowed this to go smoothly and safely, and to the others who brought good humour and strength - Tim, Lori, Roland, Levi, Steve and Liz. We are looking forward to turning on the lights to shine over the Comox Valley again this Christmas. This tower of lights is a symbol of our Legacy of Light ...campaign. Now in it's 34th year, the Legacy of Light campaign (formerly Book of Lights) helps us raise funds for a project that enhances our residents comfort. The lights also represent our respect and remembrance of the hundreds of people who have been cared for at Glacier View Lodge. We invite community members to also remember or honour someone they have loved with a donation to the Legacy of Light campaign. More information will be available soon.

What caring hearts our staff have! Recently mewing was heard on our property and when staff investigated they found some tiny kittens. They are safely in the care of Kitty Cat Pals and are called Tigger 1, 2 and 3! 2 are doing really well. Gaining weight. Eating & drinking. 1 is behind with eating and weight gain, but should improve. Bless the tender hearts of those who rescued the tiny kitties and continue to search for the momma and any other babies.

We are so grateful for all the community support we received to clean up the front entry to the Lodge. First, the vision from Brian Willis, Bryan Cuthill removed the aging azaleas, and our Board Chair Anne Judson approached companies to help with the clearing of the landscape fabric and all the azalea roots. Edgett Excavating Ltd. provided the equipment and 2 laborers, along with Bruce McMillan, to get the area cleared at no charge. Comox Valley Irrigation has done several ...hours of work on our behalf for no charge to adjust sprinklers, John Watt and Vancouver Island Enterprises donated the soil for the project, and River Meadow Farms provided great discounts on the sod. Since the photo was taken, specialty rhodos have been planted and now mother nature is taking care of the watering! Special thanks to our maintenance team for all their work prepping the area.
