The internet is full of information from all different kinds of sources, and it can be an easy way to find health tips for your pets, especially in case of emer...gency. Some of this information is good, and some of it is, shall we say, lacking (in science, research, and sometimes even good intentions). It is a good idea to ask your vet for a list of reputable pet health websites, so that you don’t have to sort through the quagmire on your own. See more
We are surprised and truly humbled by not only the nomination, but for the votes to give us a silver standing in the community! Thank you! We strive to do our best!

WE HONOUR THEM Companion animals have served in every war. Horses, dogs, cats, pigeons and even worms!... In WWI by 1918 an estimated 50,000 dogs had served on both sides of the war as well as 1.2 million horses and donkeys! The most popular dog breeds were the Doberman Pinscher and German Shepherd. These breeds were chosen for their strength, agility, protectiveness and of course trainability. Sentry, scout, and courier were some of their roles but the role that made the most impact on soldiers was casualty finders. The dogs would go onto the battle field and find wounded soldiers, they would then stay with the soldier until medics arrived. I am sure the companionship at such a time was invaluable to injured men. Cats and smaller breed dogs(like terriers) served a valuable role as well, they were the ratters that helped keep the trenches and ships free from vermin. Of course in their downtime I am sure they also served as comfort for those soldiers so far from home Glo-worms likely the least known contributor to the war effort were used to help soldiers read maps at night without being detected by the enemy. As war evolved most of the animal soldiers were less utilized, for example in WWI 3 million camels were used but by WWII only 50,000. K9's however have continued to serve . They are still used in combat as sentries but now they are also used to detect unseen explosives or people. Dogs are valuable in the post war effort of helping soldiers with PTSD. Lifelong companions the animal kingdom is always there for us when we need them. Some countries are choosing to honour these war heroes with their own poppy; the purple poppy. We do not want to take away from the sacrifice made by our own men and women but please do not forget to spare a thought for these unsung soldiers on November 11th
A Little bit of puppy and ferret wrangling today
