Yarrow spotted in Lillooet outside Squamish. Yarrow is a common species throughout BC. It grows in open, dry or moist areas with good drainage, including rocky bluffs, meadows, roadsides, and shorelines. It is found from low to high elevations throughout most of North America. Human Uses... Yarrow had many uses in traditional First Nations medicine. For example, the Nuxalk used it to treat bronchitis, the Squamish used it for measles, and the Squaxin used it for stomach ailments. Lillooet experiences a semi-arid climate (Köppen BSk). Lillooet (along with Lytton) holds the record for the hottest temperature recorded in British Columbia. On 16 and 17 July 1941, the temperature reached 44.4 C (111.9 F).[9] In addition to the hottest July temperature, the town also holds the record for the hottest temperature recorded in the province during the months of April (36.1 C [97.0 F]), May (41.7 C [107.1 F]), and December (22.2 C [72.0 F]).
