RIP Yiayia Matina 1944-2019 Ms. Stamata Stefanopoulos, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away suddenly in Laval on July 31st, 2019 at the age of 74.... She leaves behind her loving children Gerasimos and Fotini, Panagiotis and Diana, Maria and Louis; her grandchildren Petro and Maria, Dimitri, Samantha, Georgie, Melina, Niko and Leia. She was greatly loved and will be remembered fondly not only by her family, but by all those who came to know her as she wrestled with life’s opportunities and inner calling. In her own way, she had finally found her inner peace. Stamatina, better known to everyone as Yiayia Matina, was always firm for what she believed in, which was family first. She raised her three children with strength and conviction and instilled in them kindness, compassion and a strong work ethic. They were her pride and joy. She reminded them to always be generous, no matter how little they had, to appreciate the little things in life, to be content with all of life’s blessings, to learn from the challenges that marked their paths and to remain humble and grateful with every step they took. Yiayia Matina loved her grandchildren more than anything in the world. They filled her heart with love and laughter and she was fortunate enough to raise them and nurture them into warm, caring and hard-working people just like their parents. What a blessing! Stamatina was a good soul with a fighting spirit and she will forever be remembered and loved. We love you Mama, our matriarch, our rock and now our guiding light.
