Halloween is our favourite time of the year. Maybe it's the crisp autumn leaves, full moon vibes and abundance of candy. Maybe it's the fact that our witchy vibes are proudly paraded about but there's just something about this time of year that makes GCD thrive! This year @diva.cait decided it would be a good idea to carve pumpkins for all of our clients. Although she bit off a bit more than she could chew, she was able to bust out a couple that are super rad. (it's the... thought that counts right?). Swipe to see these fantastical pumpkin creations . We feel so honoured to be working with @campwinston on their Building Hope campaign. If you aren't familiar, Camp Winston is a camp that supports children and young adults living with complex neurobiological disorders. Camp Winston is a space that fosters opportunity. The opportunity for extraordinary children to escape their ordinary lives; to feel welcomed and included; to grow vital social and recreational skills; and to live without the fear of rejection or alienation. De...spite the support that Camp Winston brings to our community they receive no regular government funding, instead relying solely on generous donations. And right now, they need our support. This year’s pandemic has forced Camp Winston to redirect their funds to create an online service for campers - Camp Winston Connections. Although they’ve seen success with this program, their campers have complex needs that require unique stimulation which is often not easily accessible. As a result, the site is currently non-operational and they have been forced to pause further reconstruction of one of their main buildings. The Building Hope Campaign is intended to assist the completion of the unfinished Arts, Drama & Music building in the hopes of continuing support and welcoming campers back as soon as permitted. In honour of #NationalBossDay, we - Luba & Carly, Digital Marketing Sorceresses - are here to tell you how out of this world @diva.cait is. She truly is THE best boss you could as for. For those of you who have had the privilege of working with or personally knowing Cait, you probably don’t need much convincing For argument sake, let’s pretend you’ve never met her. Cait is incredibly positive, hardworking, al...ways smiling, and constantly putting her clients and her coworkers first. But what makes her stand out amongst others, is her ability to believe in your work. Cait gave both of us an opportunity when no one else did. Cait is a LEADER not a boss. She doesn’t demand, she coaches. She listens as often as she speaks. She fosters confidence, instead of creating fear. And most of all, she has turned a job into doing what we love.

As a Canadian, Thanksgiving weekend has always meant big family dinners, pumpkin and apple pies, fall leaves, and an extra dose of gratitude. As our commitment to unlearning deepens, holidays such as these seem more and more challenging. Of course, we love nothing more than gathering with our families, but the truths of our country's history holds immense importance and needs to take up more space at our dinner tables. So before joining hands this long weekend to celebra...te Thanksgiving as many of us have known it, we ask that you bring one new piece of informational truth to dinner.
