Hey everyone! Just checking in, seeing how everyone is holding up. Times are certainly interesting and I’ve been doing my best to find peace in every day. As I move through my day to day unemployed, there have been a LOT of old stuck feelings around worth and money and my single status that I’ve been working through. It’s crazy because our work as humans are never done.... To keep my sanity, I’ve put my focus on a routine that incorporates things I love, enjoy and that make me happy. How about you? Story time. I was with one of my best friends a couple weeks ago, and we decided to go grocery shopping together. I had a recipe for (what I hoped would be) a tasty pasta that involved getting fresh pasta from our local shop. The shop itself is super tiny, could fit 5 customers at best, at any given time. It was a Friday afternoon, so to that standard, they were packed. When it was my turn to order from the young kid behind the counter, I asked for their lemon pepper linguini.... For how many people? He asked. I took a beat and stammered uhhh...for two I couldn’t fucking believe it as I said it. More so, I couldn’t believe what it made me FEEL. Outside, I turned to my girlfriend and said I can’t fucking believe I felt embarrassed to order pasta for myself that I had to ask for two! We had a good laugh over it because sure, I could be making enough for leftovers. But it was the feelings it brought up within me that made me sit back and think: Do I still feel embarrassed about being single?
