If you are paying to have your tax return prepared, insist on receiving a full copy with all schedules from your accountant. I've run into a few new clients who were only provided a summary by their former accountants, it makes it really difficult to ensure certain business carryovers are correctly recorded.

A quick public service announcement: if you get a call from someone claiming to be from CRA demanding immediate payment and they have a warrant for your arrest, it's a scam. Also don't give then your SIN or name. CRA will always send out notice in writing if you actually owe them anything, and they don't resort to threats.

Just an FYI, a lot of people qualify for the Disability Tax Credit without realizing it, especially if you have a disabled child or elderly relative. Unlike disability insurance, the tax credit isn't tied to employment income or the ability or inability to work, it is meant to provide a tax break for people who have conditions or combinations of conditions that result in higher costs. You may qualify for the disability tax credit and still have a job. Conversely, you may be ...unable to work and be on disability but not qualify for the disability tax credit. Autism and other mental function issues also qualify and tax credits can be transferred to caregivers in many cases. A lot of seniors qualify due to vision and hearing losses or due to life sustaining therapy. In order to apply you need a doctor to assess with form T2201 which is than sent to CRA. You can now request on the form to automatically reassess prior year returns if the condition has existed for some time, although you may need an accountant to file tax credit transfers onto other returns if your situation is more complex.
