Duties include: - prepping and serving snacks, breakfast and hot lunch for approximately 90 children & adults... - washing dishes - maintaining a clean and well organized work environment Applicants should possess - Experience cooking for larger groups - good time management - exceptionally high level of cleanliness - dedication to cooking healthy, high quality meals - strong organizational skills - work well independently - positive team work skills Position Details: - Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. - Fridays 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. - paid vacation - benefits

Glengarry Child Care Society has been providing high quality care to families for over 50 years! Our Daycare is a $25.00/day program until March 31, 2021, we have 2 spaces available for children 18 months and under. Fees are capped at $546.00/month until April 1, 2021. Parents that qualify for full Provincial Subsidy pay zero until April 1, 2021. We have spacious playrooms with large windows for natural light, a large outdoor playground with mature trees and provide 2 snacks ...and hot lunch daily that are healthy and home cooked. Our Out of School Care program has 2 spaces available for Kindergarten or School Aged children. We provide transportation to Major General Griesbach and Evansdale Schools. Children attending St Matthew Elementary School are walked to and from by our Educators. We provide full day care for non-school days and during the summer. Bussing for children attending other community schools may be able to be arranged through the School. On our Annual Camping Trip in August, we take the children, Educators and parent volunteers on a 4 day, 3 night camping trip to a private camp on Lake Wabamum! Glengarry's 50th Anniversary Celebration, held yesterday, August 24, 2019 was a resounding success! An estimated 300 people came out to celebrate with us. The most exciting part was the unveiling of Glengarry's new logo! One of our school aged children drew a picture of his family when he was only 4 years old. While searching for a new logo, this stood out as the perfect representation of what Glengarry Child Care Society is all about....Families We are so proud to have Ryder's drawing represent Glengarry Child Care Society for many many years to come.

Our Tree of Giving for Edmonton's Homeless was overflowing so we packed it up and headed to Spruce Grove to drop off for a group called "Pay Forward Kindness Group" that will distribute all of the clothing directly to those in need in Edmonton and surrounding communities. They are a small but mighty group, struggling with their own family challenges but put all that aside to support our homeless population. The coordinator of the group, Vanessa, was overwhelmed with the gen...erosity of Glengarry families and community members that dropped off clothing at MLA Neilsen's Constituency Office. Vanessa's personal message to everyone that donated..... "please wish all of your families a very Merry Christmas and many blessings in the New Year!" We have a long winter still to come and we need to continue to collect warm clothing. Please continue to donate to our Tree of Giving!

Our Scholastic Book Fair is on all this week from 300 - 600 pm and Saturday at 230 pm. Stop in and visit us!

Although it appears that summerish weather has returned, we know that Old Man Winter is just around the corner and well be back in the Alberta deep freeze before we know it! Glengarry has been so fortunate this year with the success of our ELCC grant that I would like to Pay It Forward to those less fortunate with our Tree of Giving for Edmontons Homeless. In the next few days you will see a lighted but un undecorated Christmas tree set up at the centre. We want to deco...rate the tree with warm winter clothing - socks, hats, gloves etc. When the tree is full, we will undecorate it and deliver the items to one of Edmontons Homeless Shelters. Wait.it doesnt stop there! Socks, hats and gloves are the most needed items at the homeless shelters during the winter so keep bringing in items to keep our tree decorated all through the upcoming winter! I am confident that our amazing families and community supporters will once again step up and help us make a small but important difference in the community and the City of Edmonton. Thank you for your continued support!

Our Value Village Fundraiser is now done and once again, our families stepped up and rocked it! We delivered 2,879 lbs...yes pounds of donations to the west end Value Village. they said it was the largest fundraising donation that they have seen at that store! A few notes about Value Village that you may not be aware of... - approximately 1/3 of all donations are unuseable due to damage or staining. Those clothes are either donated to homeless shelters or are sent to other countries who employ people to take the clothing apart, replace the soiled part and create a new article of clothing for someone in need - any glass items that are chipped or broken are put through a glass chipping machine and recycled - virtually nothing that is donated is thrown away Thank you to everyone that donated, carried bags to the storage area and helped to load the truck last night! A huge thank you to Glengarry Community League for allowing us to store the donations in the rink shack!

REMINDER! VALUE VILLAGE FUNDRAISER! We are still collecting clothing, accessories, small kitchen appliances, linen, blankets etc for our Value Village Fundraiser. Donations can be dropped off at 13315 - 89 Street anytime between 630 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. or call Brad at 780-239-1540 to arrange for pick up!

We are partnering with Value Village to participate in the Fun Drive program. It's incredibly easy. Bring in your donations of clothing, accessories, sheets, blankets, towels, shoes, kitchenware, small appliances etc between now and October 16th. On October 17th, we'll load up all the donations and deliver them to the West Edmonton Value Village store and we'll receive a donation cheque based on the total weight of the items!... 15 cents per pound for soft items (clothing, linens etc) 5 cents per pound for all other items You can drop off your donations at the centre (13315 - 89 Street) anytime between 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. or we can arrange to have your items picked up anywhere in Edmonton and surrounding areas. This morning, we said a very sad goodbye to the OSC pet rabbit, snowflake. The OSC children adopted snowflake from the SPCA in the summer of 2011. She was a big part of the program and will be missed by everyone. Rest in Peace Snowflake, until we meet again on the Rainbow Bridge....

I want to share a story that happened to me this afternoon..... We stopped at Cobbs Bakery at Namao Centre and outside the store on the sidewalk was an elderly lady, clean and well dressed, sitting on the sidewalk with her hat laying in her lap and her head hanging down.
