The Glengarry Pioneer Museum was disappointed and concerned to find the vandalism of our historic building, as well as the church and other signs throughout the quiet hamlet of Greenfield over the weekend. We were saddened to hear it was the doing of such young people. We have no doubt that the community will pull together to help clean things up. Bring on spring and fresh, new beginnings to all.

Have you ever heard the sound of musket fire ringing out from the museum grounds over the summer months? That would be none other than the local Glengarry Light Infantry. They’re a passionate group group of 1812 re-enactors who use the museum grounds for drill training and living history. Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonell of Glengarry House proposed a regiment of Fencibles be raised in Glengarry County on July 9th 1806 and again on 28th January 1807.

The history of Glengarry is a story of community coming together, and this holiday season is no exception. Community members Lindsey Howes and her aunt Connie were kind enough to share Lindsey’s grandmother Edith’s famous Christmas (aka Plum) Pudding recipe with all of us here. Now we can each cook and enjoy the flavours of this local yearly tradition while we’re celebrating Christmas in our bubbles. Thanks to Lindsey and Connie for sharing this delicious recipe with us.
