Beautiful full moon tonight rising over the Salish Sea; March is the Full Worm Moon. Was 99.7% full, and so bright!!. The dark lines across the reflection are waves breaking on the shore. beautiful full moon tonight. I have been asked a couple of times why its called the Worm Moon so............I looked it up! As the temperature begins to warm and the ground begins to thaw, earthworm casts appear, heralding the return of the robins, thus the origin of March’s full moon, named... the Full Worm Moon. The more northern Native American tribes knew this Moon as the full Crow Moon, when the cawing of crows signaled the end of winter. It was also referred to as the Full Crust Moon, because the snow cover becomes crusted from warming by day and freezing at night. The Full Sap Moon marking the time of sapping maple trees is another variation. To the settlers, it was also known as the Lenten Moon, and was considered to be the last full Moon of winter.#wormmoon #moonrising #fullmoonvibes #fullmoonenergy #risingmoon #comoxvalley #SalishSea #thewestcoast #vancouverisland

The herring roe fishery, as sad as it is and what may happen once its depleted, its still quite something to take it all in. So many birds, sealions, boats and seals. Its part of their lif cycle, all depend on it for long term survival. There are so many nets parallel to the shore I don't know how any herring make it to spawn! #herringroe #salishsea #vancouverisland #naturefirst #thewestcoast

The Herring Roe fishery is in full swing, and went down to Point Holmes to take it all in. I believe this is the last large herring run left on our coast, and its at risk of being depleted. All for Asian gourmet markets (not even in Canada), fertilizer and fish food. SO many species depend on these fish for survival, and all we value them for is fertilizer, so tragically sad. I find this image powerful; one of the species that needs these fish and right behind tons and tons being removed behind its back. Its sad all around; for the fisherpeople, but most of all the wildlife. The value of this fishery is leaving it where it is to hopefully rebound over time before its wiped out. #savetheherring #greenparty #saveourcoast #salishsea #comoxvalley #vancouverisland #bcndp ##greenpeace #naturefirst

Always love posting winter cross country skiing pics. Such a beautiful day up there today. Did an 18km ski. Wind had done a bit of a number on the tracks last night, any exposed part of a trail had drifting. Still an awesome day!

Yet another beautiful day up on the cross country ski trails. The beauty is never ending! Ended up doing a 21km ski, and met up with friends Jon and Petra on the last loop. Wonderful place to ski, so thankful we have it so close by! #vancouverisland #crosscountryskiing #comoxvalley #comoxvalleybc #mtwashingtonalpineresort #paradisemeadows

Another day skiing, always like posting pics as its so beautiful up there. Similar to yesterday, but windier and colder. Still 15km of great classical cross country skiing! Was nice to run into friends on the trail as well!

Almost didn't go cross country skiing today but did! Glad I did. Classical skiing was excellent. Snowed really hard for about 45 minutes, but was good for the rest of the time. Did 15km; 6km skating but went and changed gear, and then the rest classical as it was so good. Awesome day. Those aren't marks on my lens, it was snowing! #crosscountryskiing #ravenlodge #paradisemeadows #awesomeday #mtwashington

And this is point holmes today. It’s a little rough out there! this is normally where Jessica swims, but not today!. I was having a hard time standing up between the gusts. I was only out in it for a few minutes but my pants were completely soaked as it was raining hard as well as this really strong wind.

Glenn Naylor Photography 28.11.2020

What a storm we are having today! 70 to 90 km/h winds, and heavy rain. Went down to check the boat all is good but the weather is brutal down there in the marina. A flock of about 100 Canada geese sitting in the bay beside the marina most with their bow into the wind! LOL. Went down to point holmes where Jessica usually swims but no swimming today LOL it’s a little rough!
