May is National Chip Your Pet Month! There are many situations that can separate a pet from its owner and odds are it will happen at least once in your time together. Collars and tags can be physically removed when a pet gets lost or stolen, but a microchip is tamper-proof and makes it nearly impossible to permanently lose a pet. Although microchips can’t tell you where your pet is (it doesn’t have GPS capabilities), it does alert you when it is activated. Most people who res...cue animals off the street know to bring them to a vet or shelter. From there, the first thing a veterinarian or shelter worker will do is check for a microchip, which is why it is so important to chip your pet. Microchips also last a lifetime and only need to be updated with your current information whenever it changes, such as when you move or change your phone number. For quality assurance, have your vet check it once a year to make sure it is still in place and working properly. #Nationalchipyourpetmonth See more

It's National Tabby Day! With over 80 percent of our domesticated feline companions being of the striped variety, it's no wonder that tabby cats get their very own day! So to celebrate these tiny house tigers and all their stripey, "tabbitude" glory, we've compiled a few interesting tabby cat facts, just a few tabby tidbits about these fluffy felines. Tabby cats come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Tabby doesn't refer to a breed of cat, but rather the distinctive striped p...attern. As such, a tabby cat can be any breed or color. In fact, no matter what color or markings your cat may have, all cats have the tabby cat gene; other colors and patterns may mask the tabby marks, but the gene is always present. Have you ever seen a black cat in the sun and seen the subtle stripes? That's the tabby gene at work.

Hello Everybody! With things slowly somewhat getting back to normal, here is a quick update as to what that will mean for our clinic going forward: We have started doing elective surgical procedures, such as spays and neuters, and have resumed regular appointments, including nail trims. For the foreseeable future, the clinic doors will remain locked and we ask that our clients continue to remain in their vehicles and contact the front desk via phone upon arrival. A staff member will then help you for appointment check in, food and/or medication pick up. Thank you to everyone for their patience and understanding!

Hello Everybody! Protection of the public, the health and welfare of animals and the safety of our practice staff is a priority to us. With the ongoing novel coronavirus outbreak, we will be implementing measures that aim to, as much as possible, reduce and minimize possible exposure to COVID-19 within our clinic for both our clients and our staff. Due to the global shortage of surgical supplies, we will be limiting surgeries to those that are emergencies or cannot wait, lik...e c-sections. We have increased our measures of disinfecting the premises multiple times a day and after each appointment. We will be reducing our hours, opening at 8am still but closing at 4pm Monday to Friday. At this time we are also locking the doors to the clinic during open hours and we will not accept walk in traffic. Please make an appointment before coming to the clinic in order to restrict traffic and reduce wait times. Upon arrival at our clinic we ask our clients to please remain in their vehicles and contact us. Practice staff will come to collect the patient from the vehicle for examination, veterinarians and staff can then communicate with you via electronic means including text, phone and email. Any consent needed will be collected verbally by two of our staff instead of by signature. We are advising clients to reschedule appointments / procedures that are elective and/or routine that can wait. Vaccinations, allergy, and Arthritis injections will be done in the clients vehicle when possible. We strongly recommend that clients call ahead for items such as food and medication refills which will be delivered to the clients vehicle. We are limiting client purchases to a maximum two month supply in case of shortages. At this time we are also only accepting debit and/or credit cards, payment over the phone with a credit card is available and highly recommended. We ask that any clients experiencing respiratory symptoms avoid coming to the clinic and instead send someone in their stead if the appointment is absolutely necessary. This includes those in self quarantine, those who have traveled outside Canada recently, and those who may have been exposed to COVID-19. Please call our staff in advance so that they can follow additional protocol in these instances such as wearing gowns and gloves to appropriately protect against risk of contact transmission. Please note that at this time there is no evidence of animals infected with COVID-19. We apologize for any inconvenience these measures may cause, please bear with us at this time!
