As we prepare for the 2021 IIHF Women’s World Championship in Halifax, we’re flashing back to that time when Chris (Halifax Account Manager) and one of our 4’ tables were graced by the presence of the Stanley Cup. That’s right, THE Stanley Cup. We loved working with the Memorial Cup team in Halifax in 2019! It was a wonderfully simpler time when spectators didn’t have to mask up and athletes didn’t have to bubble prior to the competition.... Do you remember those days?

After months of inactivity in the events industry as a result of the pandemic, we are pleased to have just executed one of the first, if not THE first, trade show event in BC since March! The All Dressed In White Bridal Show was a 40-booth Wedding Show held at Meadow Gardens Golf Club in Pitt Meadows last weekend. Congratulations and big thanks to Coastal Productions for their vision to safely promote this 40 booth event which received pre-approval from the three local... authorities needed to proceed: Fraser Health, WorkSafeBC and the City of Pitt Meadows. The successful proposal they submitted mirrored, and/or exceeded the protocols established for Retail and Restaurant Industry. Protocols included: * Proper PPE usage at all times during the show * Scheduled attendee time slots to maintain proper social distancing * Contact tracing and temperature checks taken for all attendees and exhibitors For our part, Global Convention Services was pleased to assist the ADIW team with the execution of this event. Our solutions included: * directional floorplan design * full height drape booth configuration * plexi-glass barrier solutions for exhibitors and at registration We hope this will inspire all event producers to look at their own event and facility to see if it can be done safely and responsibly during these times. We encourage anyone in the industry to reach out to us for more information on this event or how we can assist in safely plan and execute your event.

We’re incredibly excited for our facility partner as they reopen their doors this weekend! The Halifax Convention Centre has done some great work, in collaboration with Public Health, to begin hosting events again while keeping staff and delegates as safe as possible. We feel confident in their extensive COVID-19 plan and safety protocols, and are happy to contribute to this progress in any way we can. This facility has been working hard for the events industry in Nova Scotia, and beyond, and we are truly thankful!

This week we’re featuring Jeremy Johnston who works out of our Victoria branch: Jeremy wants you to know that his full name is Jeremy Alexander Johnston, he is age 30 and born on December 18, 1989 in Victoria. He is an island boy for life but will travel until he can’t get out of bed anymore. AND he lives for all sports! As you can see, Jeremy is an absolute HOOT, so don’t miss out on some more fun facts about him!

It’s #TEAMTUESDAY time! This week we’re featuring George Ziwani who works out of our newest branch in Calgary, Alberta: Why did you pick the trade show industry? I didn't, it picked me, right out of high school, I still have some industry relationships from when I was 18.... What did you do before this that prepared you for the business? It's always been this industry, from labourer, to supervisor to operations manager to owning my own version, this is all I know, and my wife I know my wife! Favourite event you worked on and why! The NHL's Heritage Winter Hockey Classic that was here in Calgary in 2011, had the chance to work with the NHL, AMAZING experience. The Flames AND I had a behind the scene pass WOW. Most challenging event you worked on and why! Hands down the Global Petroleum Shows at Stampede Park, I've been involved in some way or another since I was 20 years old, every second year we could look forward to it, It was and still is, one of the city's largest events, it took a team to pull it off, I can honestly say I've worked with the best in our business! Name a little known fact about you! Love the farm life, land, horses, and cows. I restored a ‘69 Chevelle years back. We enjoy car shows on weekends during the summer, LOVE early morning fishing on my boat and rescuing pups with my wife. Favourite sports team? Was a huge Expo's fan still am, but a quick second would be the Calgary Flames! GO FLAMES GO!

Born in Toronto, moved to London, Ontario in my 20’s, then came to Moncton in 2019!... Why did you pick the trade show industry? It picked me! My experience in warehousing and logistics brought me to Global. Most challenging event you worked on and why! I don’t think there is one particular event, they all present challenges but I will say that since our Moncton Warehouse distributes to all the Maritime provinces, events that are further away (geographically) are more difficult. Name a little known fact about you! I enjoy karaoke and golf! Favourite sports team? Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays

The trade show industry picked me, and I have not looked back since joining the industry and the Global Team!... What did you do before this that prepared you for the business? I spent over 34 years in the audio visual and technology industry servicing events from coast to coast in Canada. Favourite event you worked on and why! I would have to say it was the recent Skills Canada event held at the Halifax Exhibition Centre, due to its size and scope of requirements. Name a little known fact about you! I Love to build and repair things. Also love being out on the water in my boat. Favourite sports team? Montreal Canadians! GO HABS GO!
