Canada’s #HardestHit businesses need that certainty and predictability. @CAFreeland, we need to hear in the budget that CEWS and CERS will continue until the end of 2021 for those who qualify in industries like ours that have been highly impacted by COVID.

Renovation Update: Here's an update on the redevelopment of our building with P3A Architecture! Thanks to our project lead James Youck. "The Globe Theatre Redevelopment project is continuing through the design process. The design team led by P3A has been working closely with Globe Theatre’s senior leadership to refine the concept design to ensure that patron and performer spaces are modernized and improved. The focus of the design is ensuring that the theatre proper represent...s a leap forward for the company presenting opportunities to enhance the live theatre experience. The project faces challenges as the nearly 100-year-old Prince Edward Building has been vacated and some deconstruction work has begun. Surprises lurk in every wall and ceiling as the construction team led by Ledcor Construction begin the work. The project focus is now on coordinating the information provided by the numerous project stakeholders and balancing the needs and wants of the project against the available budget. This is a constantly evolving process and is of significant challenge on a complex project. Major trade contractors for mechanical and electrical systems have been brought onto the team to assist in project planning and budgeting as the design team proceeds into contract document preparation over the next number of months. Construction action will begin to ramp up through summer and will hit its stride in late fall. The final design, when unveiled, will boast a completely reimagined Main Stage, an enhanced black-box theatre, new Box Office, support spaces, and public amenities. One of the most notable changes will be the creation of a public lobby on the main floor of the building bringing a presence for Globe Theatre to the street level. New mechanical and electrical systems will provide greater patron comfort and improved energy efficiency. The new Globe Theatre will still be inexorably connected to its past, but it will be a facility that will look to the next 50 year horizon and Globe moves into future decades of performances". How do you plant and grow a professional theatre company on the southern prairie where none has existed since the late 1920s? You want to, with a passion and a vision. ... And you take a chance, believing in what you’re doing. You absolutely do not refuse any offers of help. You assemble a coterie of likeminded souls. And even when you feel like quitting, you play on. That, in broad strokes, is the story this book will tell, of Ken and Sue Kramer and Susan Ferley and Ruth Smillie, of their thousands of collaborators, their audience, their hundreds of performances on the road or at home (one home or another).
