In today's edition of "Places We Can't Go Right Now" we look at the Muttart Conservatory, one of the many architectural brush strokes left on Edmonton, Alberta, Canada by Peter Hemingway. Bonus points for being a Place We Can't Go Right Now for two reasons: social distancing AND extensive renovations. For those unaware, each pyramid is an isolated botanic biome growing exotic and interesting plants. It is a wonderful place to bring your family to learn about science and life,... and I'm sure many of us have had wedding photos, picnics and other celebrations here. Just give it a few years and we can do these things again. Their renovations have to be slow and careful to preserve the rare and beautiful life nested within, but hopefully by then we've been thinking about this post every day, and will remember to be blasted by a dense helping of nature once it opens again. Take care everyone. Follow them: Instagram: @yegmuttart @edmontonattractions Facebook: Muttart Conservatory City of Edmonton Modeled and rendered in Blender. In today's edition of "Places We Can't Go Right Now", we look at our beloved Starlite Room in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Only quantum computers know how many collective hours we've all spent inside this building. It has been a constant in the community, built before we were born and providing us with music, entertainment and extended family for decades.... Currently in the hands of loving owners who are doing everything they can to keep this history and community hub alive. After having to close their physical doors, they've released Starlite Sessions to continue giving creators a space to share their crafts, and provide an avenue for the rest of us to experience great talent, learn new skills and maintain our sense of community. As many of you have already been affected by the shite of recent times, so has the Starlite Room and its sisters. They are asking for donations to help ensure this fiscally challenging time becomes only a "close call" instead of "permanently closed doors". We are all uncertain about what will happen in the future. But what we can be certain about is helping others is helpful to others, and even $1 from you can represent freedom for someone else. Be safe. Save your money if you have to. Don't be silly. But if you can afford it and have been affected positively by these places and/or their owners, please consider donating and increase the likelihood of this fixture of our city remaining in tact after the dust settles.
