Courtesy of Julie Worden! My son, Samuel Worden, is the archer but we collaborated on writing this, as this sport has enriched all our lives and I wanted to ad...d my perspective. Sam (Age 11)- I started doing archery, after watching it in a Disney movie. The main character was shooting her bow at a target and was also shooting from her horse. I told my mom that I would really like to try that. I started on target in March of 2019 and tried 3D in January 2020. When I began I told everyone that I wanted to shoot with a plain bow, nothing extra on it. A lot of people said that was harder and kept asking me if I wanted a sight put on, or if I would like to try a different bow. I didn't change my mind and have been shooting recurve (barebow) from my first day- I find it easier. When I am shooting I feel relaxed and am concentrating. I like shooting 3D targets the most because they are all different! For the future I want to keep improving and also try shooting from a horse someday. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sam's Mom (me)- In this sport, I have watched my son become more confident and determined. He tries his best, no matter the circumstance; the picture I have included highlights this. Sam has been extremely lucky to meet and shoot with some amazing archers, including Trudy Dryden; she is a great role model and has inspired him. Everyone has been very welcoming, helpful and encouraging towards our son. The archery community is truly a wonderful one to be a part of and I can not wait to see where Sam's journey takes him! #ArcheryDayCanada #ArcheryCanada

Para Archery in Canada November 8th, 1:00PM EST Archery is a highly adaptable sport accessible to all. This webinar will provide an introduction to the CDN Para... program, the people involved, with guidance on key considerations for working with and delivering programming for athletes with a disability. Any archer can apply to be classified through Archery Canada or may be able to be evaluated through a temporary process through your provincial archery association. A classification does not necessarily make an athlete eligible to compete in a Para Archery division, but may make them eligible to compete with an assistive device, in an eligible category to become familiar with the restrictions or assistance that category would bring. This is an opportunity to learn more about this sport which was one of the original sports at the inaugural Paralympic Games in 1960. "The car doesn't care if you have arms or don't have arms. It just wants to be driven. That's why I love archery. A bow just wants to be shot." - Matt Stutzman on #RisingPhoenix | Netflix
